🚒 🚒 Yesterday evening the brigade responded to a reported structure alight on Penguins Head Road.
Upon arrival, the house was fully involved and unfortunately not in a position to save. Our priority and focus became protecting neighbouring properties and ensuring the safety of everyone on scene. 🚨🚨

Our neighbouring brigades supported us throughout this incident, including NSW Police and NSW Ambulance and we appreciate their assistance.

Thank you to the community for respecting space and allowing vehicle movement during the response your cooperation made a real difference.

With the change of daylight saving, as you change your clocks, you should also change your smoke alarm battery.
Taking a few minutes to ensure smoke alarms were working properly could buy valuable time for families during an emergency.

With the bushfire danger period already underway here in the Shoalhaven, it’s the perfect time to prepare your property and be bush fire ready.

These free RFS gloves were handed out at our Get Ready event last week and put straight to work clearing dry leaves, sticks and other fine fuels.

A few simple steps now can make a big difference:
• Clear gutters and remove leaf litter
• Trim back overhanging branches
• Clean up around the house and move flammable items away
• Check hoses and water access
• Update your bush fire plan with your family

Tomorrow’s Fire Danger Rating for the Shoalhaven area remains at HIGH, with permits suspended due to the forecast conditions.

Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we won’t be able to run our planned live fire demonstrations. The safety of our members and community comes first.

But don’t worry there are still plenty of other activities and information to enjoy as part of NSW RFS Get Ready Weekend! 🚒🔥

Come along, meet our local NSW RFS volunteers, check out the trucks and equipment, learn how to prepare your home and family for the upcoming fire season, and have a chat with our members about your Bush Fire Survival Plan.

fire.
