🚨 Today is AusAlert National Test Day! 🚨

At 1:30 pm ACST today, Monday 27 July, a Critical AusAlert test message will be sent to compatible mobile devices across Australia.

When the message arrives, your device may:
🔊 Play a loud siren-like sound for about 10 seconds
📳 Vibrate and light up
📱 Display a test message on the screen

Because the test is being sent as a Critical Alert, it may sound even when your device is set to silent or Do Not Disturb.

There is no need to be alarmed — this is only a test and no action is required.

Please help us spread the word by reminding your family, friends, colleagues and customers, particularly anyone who may be startled by the unexpected sound.

We’re testing Australia’s new national warning system, AusAlert, across Australia tomorrow as part of the AusAlert national test.

⏰ Set a reminder for 5 minutes before the test time in your location so you are prepared in case you receive it.

The national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.

See the test time in your location below:
🟢 Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🟡 New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🟢 Queensland – 2pm AEST
🟡 Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🟢 Victoria – 2pm AEST
🟡 Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🟢 South Australia (including Broken Hill, NSW) – 1.30pm ACST
🟡 Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🟢 Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

📱 The test will be a Critical Alert. Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds before stopping, even if it is on ‘silent’ or 'do not disturb'. The message will clearly identify itself as a test and no action is required. If you don’t receive the AusAlert national test, this is fine too, as it’s just a test.

📅 Save this post and set a reminder now so you know when to expect the AusAlert national test in your area.

Big week for the Cummins SES Unit! 🚨🧡

We're thrilled to see the Cummins SES Unit featured on the front page of this week's The Advocate, with the story continuing on page 7!

To top it off, I had the opportunity to do a radio interview with 5CC Port Lincoln, which aired this morning, to talk about our unit being back online after six years and the exciting future ahead.

It's been an incredible week helping spread the word about what our volunteers do and why our community needs more people to get involved.

A huge thank you to The Advocate and 5CC Port Lincoln for helping showcase the work of our dedicated SES volunteers.

If you've ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to join us. We're especially looking for truck drivers, but there are many different roles available. No experience is needed—just a willingness to learn, be part of a great team, and help your community when it matters most.

Come and join the Cummins SES Unit – together we can make a real difference! ses.sa.gov/volunteer 💛🚒

After six years offline, the Cummins State Emergency Service Unit officially reopened on 8 July 2026 and is ready to serve the local community once again, strengthening emergency response in the Eyre Peninsula.

A huge shoutout to our dedicated volunteers who continued to upskill themselves during the closure, travelling to train alongside the Tumby Bay SES Unit as well as completing courses in Rescue Operations, First Aid, Vertical Rescue and Marine Operations. 💪👏

With nine active members already on board, the Unit is operational and looking to grow its team.

A rainy SA day…
By now, most of us have heard the rain on the roof and made our way out the door.
Maybe you grabbed a coffee, checked the forecast, or gave yourself a few extra minutes before heading out.

If you’re already on the go today:
✔ Take it a bit slower on the roads
✔ Steer clear of any flooded spots
✔ Allow extra time to get where you’re going

It’s the little things that make a difference when the weather turns.
If you need help, you can call SES on 132 500 for emergency flood and storm assistance. Stay safe.
