🔥ℹ️ Tasmania Fire Service is asking all Tasmanians to be extra cautious over the coming days, with High Fire Danger forecast for Sunday (20 September) across much of the state including:
📌 King Island
📌 Furneaux Islands
📌 North East
📌 East Coast
📌 Midlands
📌 Upper Derwent Valley
📌 South East, and
📌 Western districts.

⚠️ Strong winds and dry conditions mean fires can start easily and spread quickly.

While the Fire Permit Period has not yet commenced and there are currently no restrictions in place, we're asking everyone to take a few simple precautions:
✅ Check any campfires, burn-offs or fire pits lit in recent days or weeks and make sure they are fully extinguished. Remember: soak it, stir it, soak it again.
✅ Review your bushfire survival plan and make sure you know what you'll do if a fire starts.
✅ Stay informed through the TasALERT app, TasALERT.com, or ABC Local Radio.
✅ If you see smoke, flames, or a fire that appears to have reignited, don't assume someone else has reported it. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

🤝 We're working hard to keep the community safe, but everyone has a role to play in reducing fire risk. Please take extra caution in the use of fire over the coming days.

With High to locally Extreme Fire Dangers expected on Sunday, please don’t light any fires, don’t burn anything, and avoid anything that could create a spark. 🔥💨

And honestly… don’t even fart.....For Sunday, the consumption of baked beans will be strictly prohibited. 🫘🚫

Jokes aside, conditions could become dangerous very quickly, particularly with strong winds, very low humidity and dry vegetation.

Please use common sense, review your bushfire plan and avoid any activity that could accidentally start a fire.

Tasmania Fire Service has co-launched a new national online learning module to help workers understand bushfire risk, prepare for emergencies, and make safer decisions before and during the bushfire season.

The free training takes 45 to 60 minutes to complete and is suitable for anyone who lives, works in, travels through, or visits bushfire-prone areas.
