NOTE.. All Permits to Light Fire are suspended within the Bundaberg and North Burnett Local Government Areas from 0001 hrs Thursday 10 September 2026 to 23.59 hrs Wednesday 16 September 2026 inclusive. Our crews have been to multiple escaped burns over the last week. This is not the time to be lighting up the landscape. We have been in the Heightened Bushfire Risk period since July...a period in Queensland where we need to respect and not underestimate what fire and smoke can do to our dry landscape and neighbours..

REGARDING PERMITTED BURNS 🔥

Even when burning with the assistance of the gin gin Rural Fire Service, all permit conditions must be adhered to for the entirety of the permitted burn process.

Weather conditions must be obtained from the Bureau of Meteorology and monitored throughout the burn.

The gin gin Rural Fire Service currently has limited crew availability and is doing its best to assist where needed. There are a large number of burns currently on the books, and unfortunately some may not be completed this year.

We ask the community to please be patient and understanding. We recognise that there is a significant amount of volatile vegetation across the area.

We strongly recommend that all residents ensure their Bushfire Survival Plans are in place and up to date.

This information is not intended to create unnecessary fear within the community, but rather to encourage everyone to remain mindful of what is shaping up to be a higher-than-normal bushfire risk period in the coming months.

Thank you for your cooperation and support of your local Rural Fire Service.
