Today is World Environment Day, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The day has been held annually on 5 June since 1973. 🌏

This year, the focus is on climate change – calling for us to take urgent action and respond to the signals of changing climate conditions. Let’s celebrate the Earth by protecting it. 🤲🏻

Get involved by starting a conversation, sharing a story, or joining a climate movement. Find out how you can be part of sustainability initiatives in the City of Greater Dandenong - Sustainable Communities | Greater Dandenong Council 🌳

🖤National Reconciliation Week🖤

This week is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians through truth‑telling, respect and action.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is ‘All In’ – a reminder for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every single day. It calls on everyone to step up, listen, learn about the past, and take responsibility for creating a fairer future. Change happens when we’re all involved. 🤝✨

Today is National Sorry Day. A day to remember and honour the Stolen Generations - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly separated from their families - and recognise the lasting impacts this has on individuals, families and communities across Australia.

National Sorry Day is a time for reflection, healing, and recognising the ongoing effects of intergenerational trauma. With the National Reconciliation Week starting tomorrow, we encourage you to take the time to listen, read and learn. It is our shared responsibility to support meaningful reconciliation.

Over the past 12 months, The Collective has supported us to create meaningful leadership opportunities for local young people. Together, we’ve delivered termly calendars and a noticeboard, bite‑sized micro-learnings, and an incredible networking event just last month.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to the amazing members of The Collective. ✨
