PiP’s Rohen commenting on Mardi Gras’ suspending Luna and Damien from the Board:

“In 2021, then Mardi Gras co-chair and current CEO Jesse Matheson stood down two SGLMG directors and Pride in Protest members. This is the emergency tactic to shut down dissent when the leadership – unquestioningly backing the two major political parties and big corporate sponsors – feel they are losing control.

“A majority of members backed motions at Mardi Gras’s last AGM to highlight trans rights and advocate for anti-discrimination reform. Faced with the opportunity to stand with our community, the organisation’s leadership instead chose to ignore us.

“Last night, the organisation took it one step further - shutting out the only directors who have consistently stood up for trans rights.”

BREAKING NEWS: Mardi Gras Right-wing Leadership Suspends Board Directors After They Express Pro-Trans, Anti-Genocide Views

Links to our campaign, calling for the removal of Mardi Gras Co-Chairs, is in our bio.

Recent communications from the co-chairs of Mardi Gras spread several lies about members of the q***r and trans community, members of Pride in Protest, and Pride in Protest itself.

This is our third post in a series to clarify the truth and dispel the harmful statements made by the co-chairs.

Part 3: Pride in Protest stands in support of trans rights. Claiming that we have threatened the safety of Mardi Gras staff and that all criticism of the Mardi Gras leadership’s decisions is both orchestrated by us and unwarranted harassment is disingenuous and transphobic.
