What a morning! The Honorary Consul Darwin team joined the 2026 Pitch Black Open Day at Royal Australian Air Force Base Darwin, taking the rare opportunity to meet our German Luftwaffe team and see operational aircraft from around the world up close.
Moments like these highlight just how much stronger we are together. 🇩🇪✈️

So proud to celebrate Europe Day here in the Northern Territory alongside our incredible "Team Europe" community!
Europe Day is marked every year on 9 May, commemorating the Schuman Declaration of 1950 — the founding vision for a united Europe built on peace, democracy and cooperation. This year, we had the honour of celebrating it on 12 May with a truly special Inaugural event hosted by Jinson Anto Charls MLA at Parliament House, Darwin.
As Honorary Consul for Germany in the Northern Territory, it was a deeply meaningful moment to be part of this historic first celebration. A special acknowledgement to my fellow Honorary Consuls — Maria Randazzo (France) 🇫🇷 French Consulate in Darwin and Sonia Paspaley (Switzerland) 🇨🇭 — for their dedication to strengthening our European connections here in the Territory.
A reminder that our unity is our strength — and that by working together, we amplify our impact far beyond our borders.
A heartfelt thank you to Minister Charls for making this happen, and to all the many wonderful attendees who made the evening so special.
Here's to many more years of friendship, partnership, and shared purpose between Europe and Australia!

It was a pleasure to meet this morning with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Director of the Northern Territory Office, Ms Suzy Wilson-Uilelea, to discuss plans for Europe Day, 9 May 2026 🇪🇺

Together with my consular colleagues French Consulate in Darwin and Switzerland, we had a very positive and productive conversation about how we can collaborate to make this year’s celebrations even stronger.

Europe Day is an important opportunity to celebrate peace, unity and shared values across Europe. It also provides a meaningful moment to reflect on the longstanding contribution of European settlement and migration to the development of the Northern Territory — from culture and language to industry, trade and community life.

I look forward to working together to showcase the spirit of Europe and our shared connections here in the Northern Territory.
