NT AAC BN would like to bid farewell to WO2 Julie Andrew.

After 19 years in the Australian Army as a Battlespace Communications Specialist in the Royal Australian Signals Corps she has discharged and become a civilian.

WO2 Julie Andrew posted into NT AAC BN on 17 Jan 23 as the OPSWO, and after her posting remained with us as RQMS until her last day on 02 Sep 26.

Julie has chosen to remain with the AAC as an Army Cadet Staff member, and has just been promoted to LT(AAC) after completing her ALDC Grade One Module Three.

๐Ÿงญ NCO Enhancement Course | Leadership in Action

As part of the NCO Enhancement Course, our cadets have been working alongside SGT Gary Hancock to refine their leadership, communication and teamwork skills.

Today, the cadets headed to Defence Establishment Berrimah to put those skills into practice through a navigation exercise across a variety of terrain.

Working in sections, cadets are required to navigate to a series of designated checkpoints using maps and compasses, demonstrating their ability to plan a route, maintain direction and successfully reach their destination.

Along the way, they are also developing important leadership skills by communicating clearly, making decisions, supporting their teammates and working together to achieve a common objective.

Activities like this provide our developing NCOs with the opportunity to take their skills out of the classroom and apply them in a practical environment.

A great day of training and another step forward in developing our future cadet leaders.

RSM WO1 Bryan Duffy, Northern Territory HQ AAC Bn, conducted an impromptu visit to 3 RHA Slatyford Detachment, Northumbria Army Cadet Force (ACF), on Monday 14 September 2026.

During the visit, RSM Duffy held an extended discussion with Detachment Commander SSGT Gillian Hetherington regarding the similarities and differences between the Australian Army Cadets and the Army Cadet Force. The conversation covered organisational structure, training delivery, youth development approaches, and the shared challenges faced by both organisations.

RSM Duffy was shown the detachmentโ€™s facilities and training spaces, gaining an overview of the resources used during their regular Monday and Wednesday training nights (1900โ€“2100 hrs). Cadet Achievement Recognition

NT AAC BN are proud to congratulate one of our cadets on successfully achieving their Bronze Award for the Duke of Edinburghโ€™s International Award.

๐Ÿ‘ CDT Zachary Trenfield

This is a fantastic accomplishment that reflects their dedication, resilience, and commitment across service, skill, and physical recreation components of the program.

The Duke of Edinburghโ€™s Award is internationally recognised and challenges young people to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and contribute to their community โ€” something this cadet has demonstrated exceptionally well.

Well done on this outstanding achievement. Your efforts set a great example for others within the unit.

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ 70 ACU & 71 ACU โ€“ Recruit Bivouac & Outdoor Obstacle Course ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿช–

What an amazing activity for our 70 ACU Larrakeyah and 71 ACU Palmerston cadets!

Our recruits took part in their Recruit Bivouac, developing their field skills, teamwork, resilience and confidence, while cadets also had the opportunity to challenge themselves on the Outdoor Obstacle Course at Robertson Barracks.

A huge thank you to the Australian Army PTIs at Robertson Barracks for their incredible support, encouragement and professionalism throughout the obstacle course. Your guidance helped our cadets push beyond their comfort zones, overcome some fantastic challenges and, most importantly, support one another along the way.

It was great to see cadets encouraging their mates, having a go and showing determination even when the obstacles got tough. ๐Ÿ’ช

A fantastic effort by everyone involved and a great example of what the Australian Army Cadets is all about โ€” courage, initiative, teamwork and mateship.

๐Ÿ‘ Well done, 70 ACU & 71 ACU!
