What a night!

A big thank you to everyone who came out for the inaugural 2026 NT Writing Awards!

Across the NT and beyond, we had an incredible night celebrating the stories of NT Writers from novels, poetry and children’s books to history books and unpublished works by NT authors.

To everyone who came along or tuned in online, we’d like to thank for coming together to celebrate the unique and distinct writing that comes from the NT. It was truly a joyous evening.

We hope that you’ll connect with the richness of the stories elevated by the NT Book Awards, the NT History Book Award and the NT Literary Awards. Time to pop down to your local bookshop or library and get reading!

It is with generous support from Arts NT and the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund that these 2026 NT Writing Awards were made possible. We would also like to thank all our collaborators and event partners with a special shout out to 8CCC, Charles Darwin University, and Witchetty’s at Araluen Arts Centre for their support. Big thanks to MusicNT for making the music possible in Darwin and to The Bookshop Darwin and Red Kangaroo Books for bringing these stories into the hands of readers. And of course Library & Archives NT.
Thank you to all awards sponsors for supporting writers and storytellers in doing the important work that they do.

Until the next time!
