The SA Government has introduced new COVID-19 restrictions for the next 6 DAYS starting at midnight tonight.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says:

"As of midnight tonight we need our state to pause for six days to stop the spread and keep South Australia safe and strong."

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens says they are still working on the details but has urged all South Australians to stay at home unless you are accessing essential services.

Masks will also be required in all areas outside the home.

As of midnight these areas will shut down for a 6-day period:

• Schools
• Take away
• University
• Pub, restaurants and cafes
• Open inspections
• Outdoor/indoor sports
• FIFO
• Regional travel
• Aged care and disability
• Construction Industry
• Holiday homes
• Weddings and Funerals
• Community centres/halls

Premises that will remain open are:

• Supermarkets and petrol stations
• Medical and Mental health
• Airport
• Public Transport
• Post office
• Mining
• Child care will be open for essential workers

Dr Nicola Spurrier says now is the time to be patient and be kind and help other South Australians to get through this.
