๐Ÿ† CHRH named Victoria's Small Health Service of the Year ๐Ÿ†

We are incredibly proud to share that Central Highlands Rural Health has been named the Premier's Small Health Service of the Year at the 2026 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards.

This achievement belongs to our entire CHRH community. Every staff member, volunteer, consumer representative, Board Director, partner and supporter has played a part in making this possible.

Accepting the award on behalf of CHRH, CEO Maree Cuddihy captured exactly what makes this recognition so significant:

"While we are a small health service, the work we do is not small."

Those few words reflect the reality of what happens across CHRH every day. From caring for patients and residents, supporting people in their homes, delivering community health services and providing essential support behind the scenes, our people make a meaningful difference across our region.

We would also like to congratulate our fellow finalists, Terang and Mortlake Health Service and West Wimmera Health Service. We were honoured to be recognised alongside two outstanding rural health services that make a significant difference in their communities every day.

We are deeply grateful for the trust our communities place in us and proud to serve the people of the Hepburn Shire and Macedon Ranges. We hope our communities share in this achievement because this award recognises the difference we make together.

Central Highlands Rural Health thanks The Daylesford Foundation for its ongoing support.

We were proud to be part of the Daylesford Foundation's Afternoon of Thanks held on Wednesday.

Established in 2018, the Daylesford Foundation has provided more than $1.2 million in funding to support children, families, schools, at-risk community members, and individuals in need of a helping hand across the region.

The event recognised and celebrated the Foundation's frontline partners throughout the Hepburn Shire and the important work being achieved through collaboration and community support.

Mary Christodulaki, Mental Wellbeing Manager at Central Highlands Rural Health (pictured) was one of the guest speakers and reflected on the significant impact the Foundation has on the lives of local people.

"Whether it's enabling access to essential household items, covering unexpected medical costs, or supporting individuals to maintain stability during challenging times, the support we receive from the Daylesford Foundation provides a safety net that would not otherwise exist. We see the difference this makes in people's lives every week."

We extend our sincere thanks to founders Jim and Norma Foster, the Foundation Board, and the many community supporters who work tirelessly to ensure the continued success of the Daylesford Foundation.

Their dedication and generosity make a lasting difference to the wellbeing of individuals and families throughout our communities.

World Pharmacists Day - September 25

This World Pharmacists Day, we're celebrating and thanking the incredible Pharmacy Team at Central Highlands Rural Health.

When most people think of pharmacists, they think of dispensing medicines. But pharmacists play a much broader role in healthcare.

From reviewing medication plans and providing expert clinical advice to helping patients better understand their treatment, pharmacists make a significant contribution to patient safety and wellbeing every day.

Their knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to quality care often happen behind the scenes, but the difference they make is felt by countless patients, families and healthcare teams.

Today, we thank our Pharmacy Team for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our communities.

๐Ÿ‘ Happy World Pharmacists Day!

It was wonderful to see more than 30 people come together at the Phoenix Cinema in Daylesford for a special screening of Nansie as part of Dementia Action Week.

This moving Australian documentary follows two granddaughters as they spend time with their beloved grandma, Nansie, following her dementia diagnosis, offering a heartfelt and honest look at life with dementia.

Attendees also heard from CHRH's Manager of Social Support and Treehouse, Dora, who shared information about the support and services available through CHRH, and Alice from Dementia Australia, who highlighted the importance of Dementia Action Week and the range of supports available for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

It was fantastic to host this event in the community and create an opportunity for conversation, connection and learning.

A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers at the Phoenix Cinema for helping bring this event to life, and a special thank you to our Community Advisory Committee, whose idea sparked the event and whose enthusiasm helped make it happen.

Events like this help shine a light on the experiences of people living with dementia and those who care for them. During Dementia Action Week, we encourage our community to continue the conversation, challenge misconceptions and support a future where everyone affected by dementia feels connected, respected and included. ๐Ÿ’œ

What a fantastic day at the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival yesterday!

Central Highlands Rural Health was proud to be part of the parade, with nurses, support staff, executive leaders, Board Directors, and some very special bus passengers from our Treehouse Dementia Support Program and Trentham Aged Care joining the festivities.

We were also joined by several furry friends who were crowd favourites along the route! ๐Ÿพ

Our staff embraced the spirit of the festival with daffodil-themed outfits and some wonderfully wild accessories, bringing plenty of colour and fun to the celebration.

Most of all, we enjoyed getting out and being part of the community. The festival is always a great afternoon and we're glad to be involved.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special. We're already looking forward to next year! ๐Ÿ’›
