Diamond Beach RFS is on scene at a diesel spill on Blackhead Road near the Lakes way roundabout after an earlier motor vehicle accident. Please drive with caution as our crew are working on the road.

Update: RFS crews have departed the scene after spreading absorbent material. Please continue to drive with caution as there may be some residue on the road surface.

This evening Diamond Beach RFS attended a joint training exercise with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 295 Forster at Tuncurry Rural Fire Brigade station.

It was a valuable opportunity to learn and share knowledge about how our two fire fighting agencies can work together to protect our community.

Thanks to all crews who participated in this event.

🚒💧 HELP US HELP YOU – WATER TANK STORZ FITTINGS & SWS SIGNS

Did you know you can help firefighters during an emergency by making your water supply available?

During a bushfire or other emergency, access to water can make a real difference. Having a compatible Storz fitting installed on your water tank allows our RFS tankers to connect quickly and access your available water when it’s needed most.

✅ Quick and easy connection for fire appliances
✅ Helps firefighters access available water supplies
✅ Can make a valuable difference during an emergency

💧 SWS (Static Water Supply) Signs

The NSW RFS has SWS signs available for residents to install on their front gate. These signs alert responding firefighters that water is available on your property.

You can display an SWS sign if you have a water tank, swimming pool or dam with a capacity of at least 3,000 litres available for firefighting purposes.

If you have a suitable water supply, consider installing a Storz fitting where appropriate and displaying an SWS sign at your front gate so firefighters can identify available water quickly during an emergency.

🚒 Every available water supply can make a difference when it matters most!

Thursday training: this morning our crew rotated through a series of pumping and hydraulics exercises simulating how we get water onto a fire in the bush when we aren’t near a hydrant.

Using portable pumps we supplied water to the Cat 1 Heavy Tanker from an IBC and then to the Cat 7 Medium Tanker which fed the water back to the IBC.

To mix things up a little we then got out the big guns and had each of our new crew members have a crack at using both the 38mm and 65mm AWG Branch. We mostly use these types of fittings at structural fires but we ensure they come out at training and maintenance days to keep them serviceable.

Today we remember the emergency services volunteers who paid the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their communities, at the annual Emergency Services Volunteer Memorial Service.

The names of volunteers enshrined on the Memorial recognise personnel from NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW SES, Marine Rescue NSW and VRA Rescue NSW.

The event, held at Mrs Macquarie's Point at Sydney Botanical Gardens, will begin at 11am. A live stream of the service can be viewed on the website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/news-and-media/nsw-emergency-services-volunteers-memorial-2026

Hydrants are essential in our area. Look for the blue reflective markers on the street and a yellow painted hatch. If you have one keep it tidy - it might save lives!

💍❤️ A very special congratulations to Geoff & Kaz! ❤️💍

Over the long weekend, our Diamond Beach RFS family had a very special reason to celebrate, with Geoff Kempe and Kaz Jacobsen tying the knot! 🥂💐

Geoff and Kaz are both such valued members of our brigade, and it was wonderful to see them celebrate this next chapter surrounded by their family, friends and their RFS family.

Congratulations! We’re so happy for you both and wish you a lifetime of love, happiness, laughter and adventures together.

From all your mates at Diamond Beach RFS — cheers to you both! 🥂❤️🔥

Our crew have returned home safely from Tenterfield after a 5 day strike team deployment with 40 crew members.

It’s been an incredible experience working with so many crew members from across NSW helping the northern tablelands communities.

Thanks to Barney Downs Rural Fire Brigade - RFS for lending us your Cat 7 - it’s a good old truck! We gave it a wash last night and cleaned it out before handing it over to the next strike team.

Tenterfield Deployment Day 4 was yesterday. We were a bit busy and forgot to share it with you so here we are. Our team spent the day at Mount Lindsay and then after lunch at Drake. Today it’s time to head home.
