📣 IMPORTANT UPDATE: HALLOWEEN WALKING BUS FORMAT CHANGE 📣

Hey Diggers Rest community!
As we are running our Get Fire Ready Day alongside the Halloween Walking Bus at the fire station this year, there will be a slight change to how the Walking Bus operates.

🚒 What’s changing:
Due to current brigade requirements and volunteer member availability, this year’s Walking Bus will be self-guided with the purchase of an official $5 map from the fire station. CFA members will not be leading groups along the route as they have in previous years.

🗺️ How it works:
You can pop into the station starting from 1:00 PM on Saturday, 31st October, grab a sausage, pick up your $5 map, get your fire safety tips, and then set off at your own pace with family and friends to follow the trick-or-treat trail!

🌟 Please note:
If availability or circumstances change closer to the date, we may be able to return to our traditional guided format—we will keep you posted here on Facebook if anything changes!

Thank you so much for your understanding and ongoing support of our local volunteers. We can’t wait to see all the spooktacular costumes at the station on October 31st! 🎃✨

Week 2 of Get Fire Ready is here and we are talking plans - do you and your family have a plan in place for what to do if there is a fire?
Head to the CFA website to download a Leaving Early plan template, or head down to your local brigade this month to chat plans and grab one to fill out with your family.

Official maps will be available to purchase for just $5 right at the station starting at 1:00 PM to guide families along the registered route!

The VicEmergency app provides a centralised location for Victorians to access timely emergency information and warnings.

The app includes warnings and incident notifications for fire, flood, storm, earthquake, tsunami, weather warnings, shark sightings, beach closures and more.

It uses that information to provide incident summaries and warnings to help you make informed decisions about your safety.

In order to receive location specific app alerts when warnings are issued or incidents occur, you must create a watch zone - scan the QR above to learn how to set up your watch zone, and stay informed this summer!

Hey Diggers Rest community, due to the bad weather forecasted for this Saturday, 3rd October, we’ve made the tough decision to postpone our Get Fire Ready & Sausage Sizzle event.

We want everyone to have the best (and driest!) experience possible, so we’ll be rescheduling for a better day soon.
