The AusAlert Community Based Trial (CBT) will occur in the Launceston Region next Monday (15 June) between 11.00am and 12.00pm.
AusAlert is a new national messaging capability being developed by the Australian Government to enable emergency service organisations to send warnings and public safety messages directly to compatible mobile devices within a defined area.
During the trial, people located within the trial area may receive a test message and alert tone on their mobile device. This is a test only and there is no emergency associated with this message. You can listen to a recording of the alert tone at: [Priority and Critical Alert types | ausalert](https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/...).
The trial covers the majority of the Launceston urban area, and due to the nature of mobile network coverage, some people in surrounding municipalities including George Town, West Tamar, Meander Valley and Northern Midlands may also receive the alert (see predicted map below).

Well, that's a wrap for the WA deployment with Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service crews heading home on the Qantas jet plane!

Memories made, experiences gained, and new friendships fostered!

A big shout out to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA staff and volunteers for the first class hosting of the Tassie crews, and for the loan of their very capable appliances whilst in country!

Until next time 👍

With High Fire Danger ratings forecast for most of Tasmania tomorrow (Sunday, 1 February), there are a few things we can all do to stay safe.

🔥 Make sure any fires lit in recent days or weeks, including fire pits and other outdoor fires, are fully extinguished. Soak it. Stir it. Soak it again.

🗒️ Check your bushfire plan and prepare your property.

🔥 If you do see any signs of fire re-igniting such as smoke and flames, call Triple Zero (000).

📱 Keep up to date with warnings and information on the TasALERT app or at TasALERT.com, or by listening to ABC Local Radio.

📜Fire Permits are in place across the state, call 1800 000 699 to apply for a permit.
