IMPORTANT REMINDER: Paid family and domestic violence leave is now available to employees of non-small business employers from today. Small business employers to follow from 1st August 2023.

From 1 February 2023, employees of non-small business employers (employers with 15 or more employees on 1 February 2023) who are in the Fair Work system will be able to access 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period.

The leave will be available upfront, meaning it won’t have to be accumulated over time. It won’t be pro-rated for part-time or casual employees.

Employees of small business employers (employers with less than 15 employees on 1 February 2023) can access the paid leave entitlement from 1 August 2023. They will continue to be entitled to 5 days of unpaid family and domestic violence leave until they can access the new paid leave entitlement.

The due date for the December monthly declarations has been extended from the 14th of January to the 28th January 2021. This is good news considering the Christmas break is just around the corner. A reminder that the August JobKeeper declaration is due 14 September.

Some changes announced recently include:

From 3 August, the eligible employee test has been extended to include those individuals who were employed on 1 July 2020 and are not currently nominated by another entity for JobKeeper

For fortnights beginning on 3 and 17 August 2020, the Tax Office is allowing employers until 31 August 2020 to meet the wage condition for all new eligible employees under the 1 July eligibility test. The wage condition is where the employer must have already paid at least $1,500 (gross) to the employee for the fortnight

There are 3 JobKeeper fortnights in August:
- Fortnight 9 for the period 20 July – 2 August
- Fortnight 10 for the period 3 August – 16 August
- Fortnight 11 for the period 17 August – 30 August

New eligible employees under the 1 July 2020 test are only included from Fortnight 10; this means that employers will only received JobKeeper payments for 2 fortnights only.

Business Support Fund - Expansion 10/08/2020

Happy Monday to our valued clients and friends.

Here is an update of what's available to support businesses impacted by Stage 3 and Stage 4 restrictions: one-off grants will be available to eligible businesses as follows:

$10,000 for employing businesses in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire in recognition of spending longer under restrictions
$5,000 for employing businesses in regional local government areas (except Mitchell Shire)

Applications for the program will be extended until 14 September 2020.

The criteria (and all criteria must be met) are:

Operate a business in metro. Melbourne or regional Victoria
Be a participant in Jobkeeper payment scheme
Employ people
Be registered with Worksafe on 30 June 2020
Have an annual payroll of < $3m in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis
Be registered for GST as at 30 June 2020
Have an ABN and have held the ABN at 30 June 2020
Be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator

Stage 4 Lockdown: Office Update:

The recent restrictions announced yesterday by the Victorian Premier will mean that Andresen Secker Associates will provide all our services to you remotely as of Thursday the 6th of August until further notice.

JOBKEEPER UPDATE:
The Government is extending the Payment by a further six months to March 2021. Support will be targeted to businesses and not-for-profits that continue to be significantly impacted by the Coronavirus.
The payment rate will be reduced and a lower payment rate will be introduced for those who work fewer hours. Other eligibility rules remain unchanged.
