Tuesday Night Training for Dubbo RFB πŸš’

Our crew spent Tuesday evening meticulously checking the equipment across our appliancesβ€”Dubbo 1 Alpha, Dubbo 1 Bravo, and Dubbo 6β€”in preparation for the upcoming bush fire season.

We ran checks on our main pumps, portable firefighting pumps, high-volume pumps, cab sprays (Halo sprays), and plenty of other essential gear.

With the 2026–2027 Bush Fire Season closing in fast, now is the perfect time to prepare your property.
A well-prepared home goes a long way in helping usβ€”and the many other brigades across the districtβ€”protect you if you ever need us.

Get Ready Weekend is next weekend!

We’ll be setting up a stall at the Dubbo Farmers Markets on Saturday, 19th September 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

If you have any questions about getting your home Bushfire Ready, come down and have a chat with our team.
We’ll even have one of our fire trucks there for the kids (and the big kids at heart) to explore!

Hope to see you there!

Dubbo Brigade participated in Dare to be Aware 2026, an initiative by NSW Ambulance and NSW Police Force to educate young drivers on the realities of road trauma through live demonstrations, interactive displays and powerful presentations from our emergency services. The program is designed to encourage young people to make safe decisions before they get behind the wheel or ride as a passenger.

Members had a great day discussing the accident demonstration, the appliances, realities on the road and even experiences in the RFS.

Good work by NSW RFS - MT Arthur Brigade working towards becoming the third brigade to be equipped with Breathing Apparatus in Orana District.

This will give their members the best respiratory protection avaliable to RFS firefighters that can be used at many incidents. It comes with additional comitment such as further training, weekly checks of the equipment and recertification.

Also with them coming online soon, it means they can stop pinching gear from our station 😁

29/06/26
Dubbo, NSW RFS Eulomogo and multiple emergency services were called to Dubbo Airport for a reported Bomb Threat on an inbound plane. This saw the airport evacuated and after a few hours, Police were able to give the all clear without incident and the airport reopened.

30/06/26
Dubbo, Eumungerie RFB and Balladoran RFB were called to a structure fire in Eumungerie. First arriving crews found a home fully involved and requested additional support. This saw NSW RFS Boothenba Brigade, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 280 Dubbo and Gilgandra FRNSW requested to attend. Crews in Breathing Apparatus were able to remove two gas cylinders attached to the house and spent several hours extinguishing the fire and blacking out the structure. Due to issues with water supply this also saw Dubbo 6 and Orana 13 requested for support.

134 calls for Dubbo Brigade in 2025.

2025 ended on 31/12/25 with two calls for Smoke in the Vicinity and 2026 begun at 4:45am 01/01/26 with a MVA Persons Trapped.

2025 had all measure of jobs from assist ambulance to bush, grass, structure fires and aircraft incidents.

The year saw the first Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating declared in NSW for 2 years, the Emergency Warning Dunedoo Rd Fire, the Western Star Structure Fire and the delivery of the new Dubbo 1A.

What the number of calls won't show is the countless hours behind the scenes that our members have dedicated to other activities such as training and maintenance.

We'd like to that a moment to thank all our members and their families for their time and effort over the year and look forward to an excellent 2026.

The Thanks from members of the public mean an unquantifiable amount to our Firefighters.
We do what we do to help the community, these acts of support during operations and thanks are the icing on the cake.

APPRECIATION POST

In recent days we have seen tremendous efforts from community members, and we thank you all again for your support. We would like to give a few special mentions:
β€’ Duane Hartas and Vandermaal Earthmoving for your work in land clearing and creating access for our appliances.
β€’ Peter Edward for supplying your water cart.
β€’ Jones Honey and Andy & Alex for generously dropping off additional food and drinks at the Boothenba Station (staging area).

We are sure there are many more, and we apologise to anyone we may have missed. Your support does not go unnoticed during these busy times.
