Welcome to the Booze Bus Weekly Round Up covering the 7th of September through to the 13th of September.

Last week the buses again deployed to locations around Melbourne and Geelong. They also deployed to Bendigo for four days, and assisted Highway and Uniform units with Operation Funnel Web in the Kingston PSA.

A total of 47 Drink Driving offences were detected in the 7 day period, along with 5 Drug Driving offences.

Operation Funnel Web in Kingston accounted for 19 of the drink driving offences, Wyndham had 5, Whittlesea had 4, and Bendigo had 3.

Of the 47 alcohol readings, a total 14 readings were double the legal limit or higher, with the highest readings being 0.149 in Lalor, and 0.132 in Melbourne.

The cost of drink driving is more than just your licence. There are fines imposed, interlock conditions, and the three year Zero Alcohol condition. Please think twice before choosing to drive a motor vehicle after you have had a few drinks.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a theft in Kyabram on Monday 14 September.

At approximately 12:22pm, an unknown male entered the local town hall and walked directly to the main counter. It’s believed that he removed a perspex donation box containing cash and immediately exited the building on to Allan Street.

The male is described as being in his 50’s, light brown “mullet” style hair with greying beard, and wearing jeans, a dark jacket, blue and white joggers and a light shirt.

Investigators have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with enquiries.

🚘 COOLHEADS YOUNG DRIVER PROGRAM - CAMPASPE 🚘

Last Wednesday night, the Campaspe Police Service Area hosted its third CoolHeads Young Driver Program at St Joseph's College, Echuca, with more than 160 community members attending from across Campaspe Shire, as well as Bendigo, Shepparton and surrounding areas.

A special thank you to our MC, Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Van Emmerik (Echuca Officer in Command), who guided the evening. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our guest speakers: Sergeant Stephen Hill from the Major Collision Investigation Unit, Judi Cantwell and the Echuca Moama Search and Rescue team, Hailey Lemin and Tracey Maney from Rushworth SES, and lived experience speaker Nilsson Smyth. Your knowledge, dedication and powerful messages helped make the evening such a success.

The event would not have been possible without the support of our amazing partners and supporters including CCLLEN, the L2P Program, Campaspe Shire, St Joseph's College Echuca, The Riverine Herald, 102.5 Edge FM, STM Synergy, NSW Police, WD5 Tasking & Coordination, the Proactive Policing Unit, volunteers and the many community members who attended.

It was fantastic to see so many people come together with a shared goal of improving road safety for our young drivers. The strong community spirit behind this event is what makes it so special.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2027! 🚘💙
