Target!

During Exercise Lion Strike the Regiment successfully conducted conventional Army’s first FPV-W Live Fire practices as we contribute to Australian Army’s continuous adaption. The Regiment has been well supported by Special Operations Command Australia and now we look forward to sharing these skills with the 1st Brigade - Australian Army next month.

More to follow!

This morning the Regiment paused to remember those men and women who have served our country in times of conflict and peace.

The service of our families that are supporting our fighting men and women is not forgotten.

Paratus.

Lest we forget.

The 1st Armoured Regiment has hit the ground running in 2026, contributing to Army’s continuous adaptation.

The Regiment has deployed members to participate in the trilateral Army Warfighting Experiment in the United Kingdom, and we have just returned from the first major field exercise of the year, Exercise Black Prince 2 at Cultana Training Area.

Black Prince 2 has seen several firsts for the Australian Army’s conventional forces:

• The first First Person View (FPV) Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) strike conducted during a field training exercise (FTX)
• The first FPV UAS fibre optic cable-enabled strike within an FTX
• The first end-to-end production of equipment components in the field through reverse engineering, design and advanced manufacturing techniques.

At the conclusion of our time in the field, we paused to recognise and acknowledge the outstanding service and contributions of our people.

The force is strong with this one!

Members of 1st Armoured Regiment recently experimented with a prototype called the Brain Robotic Interface (BRI). BRI utilised a brain monitoring system to track electromagnetic pulses which enabled soldiers to control multiple UAS and UGVs simultaneously, hands free. The future is now.

Mount up, and move out – Exercise ES SALT complete

During June, members of 3rd/9th Light Horse (SAMR) conducted Exercise ES SALT, focused on mounted live fire training.

The activity was designed to reinforce core skills, improve crew coordination, and build capability through repetition in a controlled environment. The live fire range provided an opportunity to test our drills and readiness.

As the sub-unit deploys on Exercise TALISMAN SABRE 25, this training marks an important step in refining our skills and ensuring we are prepared for the tasks ahead.

Project Convergence Capstone 5️⃣

In the heart of the Californian desert, cutting-edge technology meets global military collaboration.

Around 140 Australian Army personnel and support staff have joined international counterparts from the US, UK, New Zealand, Canada, and France to experiment with the integration of emerging technology.

Delivering advanced technologies is important to our national defence, and these multinational partnerships allow us to build our capability options far beyond what we could achieve alone.
