Ever wondered what it’s like to be inside a fire truck or up in the air fighting fires?

Well, here’s your chance!

Come along to the Eglinton Rural Fire Brigade Open Day and experience what it’s like through our Virtual Reality (VR) simulator!

Get a taste of what our firefighters experience, whether it’s on the ground in a fire truck or in the air aboard a firefighting aircraft.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for both kids and adults to experience something a little different, learn more about firefighting and have a bit of fun along the way.

Bring the family, meet your local volunteers and see what being part of the NSW Rural Fire Service is all about.

We look forward to seeing you at Eglinton Fire Station!

We’re opening our station doors and would love to see you!

Come along, meet the volunteers who help protect our community and have a look around our station.

Bring the kids down to check out our fire trucks and equipment, have a chat with our firefighters and learn a little more about what we do.

With the bushfire season upon us, it’s also a great opportunity to talk to our experienced members about preparing your home and property and what you can do to keep your family safe.

Ever thought about joining the RFS? We’d love to have a chat! No experience is necessary, and all training is provided.

There’ll also be some goodies for the kids!

At approximately 5pm this afternoon, Eglinton RFS, alongside crews from Spring Hill, Millthorpe and Bathurst, responded to reports of a vehicle fire on the Mitchell Highway.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.

Thankfully, all occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle and escaped without injury.

The highway was partially closed for several hours while emergency services worked to extinguish the fire, make the area safe and clear the scene.

We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while crews worked at the incident.

A great effort by all emergency services involved.

🔥 BUSH FIRE SEASON IS HERE 🔥

As we head into another bush fire season, now is the time to start thinking about how prepared you, your family and your property are.

Don’t wait until there’s smoke in the air to make a plan.

🏡 Take a walk around your property and look at what you can clean up or maintain.
🌿 Keep grass short and clear leaves and debris from around buildings.
🚒 Make sure firefighters can access your property if we need to.
📱 Have the Hazards Near Me NSW app ready and know where you’ll get reliable information.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Most importantly, talk with your family about what you’ll do if fire threatens.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more information to help our community prepare for the warmer months ahead.

And if you’d like to learn the skills to not only prepare your own home, but help protect your community, come and have a chat with us about joining Eglinton Rural Fire Brigade.

🔥 Prepare your property. Protect your family. Know your plan.

The time to prepare is before you need it.

Eglinton Rural Fire Brigade extends our deepest condolences following the tragic death of Constable Mia Lay in the line of duty at Redfern.

As fellow emergency service members, we recognise the commitment and courage of those who put on a uniform each day to serve and protect their communities.

Our thoughts are with Constable Lay’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire NSW Police Force during this incredibly difficult time.

We stand alongside our emergency service family in mourning the loss of one of their own.

Rest in peace, Constable Mia Lay. 💙

From all members of Eglinton Rural Fire Brigade.

When you picture a RFS volunteer, what do you picture?

The reality is, our members come from all walks of life. Different ages, different jobs, different backgrounds, different skills and different reasons for joining.

Some joined with plenty of practical experience. Other had absolutely none.

Some had lots of time to give. Others help when work, family and life allow.

And not everyone joins knowing someone in the brigade, sometimes just walking through the door for the first time is the hardest part!

So we want to ask....

What would stop you from joining?

What ever your concern or question, come and have a chat with us on our Open Day. There's no pressure and no expectation that you sign up, just come down, meet some of our members and find out what being part of your local brigade is actually like!
You might be surprised by just how many different ways there are to contribute

BUSHFIRE | Howarths Road, Freemantle

Crews remain on scene at a bushfire burning in the Freemantle area, west of Howarths Road.

As temperatures increase today, residents may notice more smoke in the area. At this stage, there is no threat to surrounding properties.

Crews from across the Chifley Lithgow and Canobolas areas are continuing containment work in difficult, steep terrain, with aircraft and heavy machinery assisting firefighting operations.

Please continue to stay informed and monitor conditions through official NSW RFS channels and Hazards Near Me.
