Congratulations to Kaitlyn and Steven on their recent achievements in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program!

Kaitlyn has completed her Silver Award following 12 months of commitment across Voluntary Service, Physical Recreation and Skills. Her journey culminated in a challenging six-day, five-night hike along the Bibbulmun Track, where she demonstrated teamwork, navigation, perseverance and resilience.

Steven has completed his Bronze Award after six months of commitment across Voluntary Service, Physical Recreation and Skills. As the usual Bronze Adventurous Journey was not offered, Steven took on the additional challenge of a six-day, five-night hike along the Bibbulmun Track, demonstrating determination, teamwork and resilience.

We congratulate both students on these fantastic achievements and commend them for their dedication to setting goals, embracing challenges and seeing them through to completion!

Over 15 weeks, the Year 11 Science in Practice students have been investigating how compost and bentonite can improve degraded soil by growing a variety of herbs and observing the results.

The difference was clear! The plants grown in the improved soil were taller and bushier than those in the control planter box.

The students also incorporated native wildflowers to attract pollinators, which can help with natural pest management.

From basil, chives and coriander to orange mint, oregano, parsley, dill and sage, this project has been a hands-on way to explore sustainable gardening and soil health.

A fantastic example of practical learning in action!

A day filled with laughter, memories and a few happy tears!

On Friday, our Year 12 students celebrated their final day of school, marking the end of an unforgettable chapter and the beginning of an exciting new journey.

Next stop? Graduation! As we look ahead to this Sunday’s Graduation Ceremony, we wish the Class of 2026 every success as they step out into the big wide world and chase their dreams.

This may be the end of their school journey, but it’s only the beginning of what’s ahead. We can’t wait to see where life takes them and celebrate their achievements as they officially join our Aveley SC Alumni.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 & 𝐁𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Congratulations to Year 11 students Fletcher Humphrys and Nicholas Craig, who represented Aveley SC at the WorldSkills Food & Beverage Competition at Saltbush Training Centre in Mandurah in the last week of Term 3.

Fletcher and Nick put their hospitality skills to the test, serving customers a two-course lunch in a silver service setting. They demonstrated a range of skills, including creating a mocktail, polishing glassware, folding napkins and delivering professional customer service.

In the lead-up to the competition, the boys were also fortunate to receive expert training from past Aveley SC student Ava Smith, who generously gave up her morning to help prepare them. Ava represented Team WA at the National WorldSkills Competition in Brisbane last year, earning a Medallion for Excellence in Food & Beverage.

Ava is now studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), majoring in Home Economics, with the goal of one day nurturing and supporting students to achieve their own goals.

It was wonderful to see the skills, knowledge and passion being passed from one generation of hospitality students to the next. Well done to Fletcher and Nick for representing Aveley SC and putting their skills into action!
