Brigade History

The fire brigade was originally formed as Avonsleigh Fire Brigade in 1948 and did not actually have a building to operate from.

Providing emergency services and community education on fires, vehicle accidents, Large Animal Rescue, and other events, for the community of Macclesfield, Victoria. When Avonsleigh Fire Brigade folded in 1951 most of the members transferred and formed Macclesfield Fire Brigade. The new location was diagonally opposite the current site. The shed was built by 4 of the brigade members out of second

😁
We welcome 👏Esta Campbell 👏

You may have met Esta through Macclesfield Primary School or as a volunteer at the Macclesfield Fire Brigade (CFA).

Lets find out more about Esta -
1. Are you married, and do you have family in the hills?
🔹Yes, I am married to James Campbell — you may have seen his business signs around the hills, James’ Custom Kitchens. We have three beautiful children, one an adult doing her own thing, and two who currently attend Emerald Secondary College.
2. What did you want to be, when you were growing up? What do you do now?
🔹When I was growing up, I imagined myself becoming either a park ranger, a nightclub owner, or a band manager — quite the mix! I didn’t end up pursuing any of those paths, though. Instead, I worked in Juvenile Justice, I did outreach with the Homeless and now I’m an ES (Education Support) at Macclesfield Primary School.
3. What 3 things would you want if you were stranded on a desert island?
🔹A water purifier, a hammock and my Multi tool.
4. What is the best movie you have seen?
🔹My all time favourite is The Power of One. The quote, “A waterfall begins from only one drop of water” has always resonated with me. It’s a beautiful reminder that even the smallest actions can grow into something powerful and meaningful.
5. What is your most annoying habit? Or something people find annoying/funny about you?
🔹I’m not sure, I’ll ask my husband…
My kid's teacher once told me I'm the squeakiest wheel he's ever met! When it comes to looking out for my kids, I'll move mountains to support them (comment kindly added by Damien Jones 😊)
6. What is your nickname?
🔹My closest friends call me Est. There is another one that my brigade has just found out about, but I’m not willing to share that, just yet! 😄

Thanks for representing our amazing Emergency Services Esta, we appreciate your support!

It was great to be able to catch up and train with some of our neighbouring brigades! Each brigade potentially needa to support each other during calls, and have different equipment and training, giving us all a wide range of resources to assist the community with!

ENDING OF THE FIRE DANGER PERIOD

As of today, for the Yarra Ranges Shire, this past summer's Fire Danger Period has ended 🔥 this means that fires for fuel reduction purposes can now be lit, and other activities of fire risk can be undertaken without added precautions (BBQing, chainsawing, etc.). Please make sure that:
✅You are following the rules for burning off set by the Yarra Ranges Council at https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/Our-services/Climate-and-environment/Burning-off
❌You are no longer following CFA's Can I, Can't I rules.

❗️For the small number of properties within our response area that fall into the Cardinia Shire, the wait is almost over! The Fire Danger Period will end of the 7th of April at 1am

23/03/2026

The autumn planned burning program has started and there will be smoke in the air on days suitable for burning. The fire danger period ends on 30 march in Macclesfield. Private burn piles can be lit from that day onwards providing conditions are safe to burn. (Also includes the following Council areas, Yarra Ranges, Knox, Manningham and Maroondah)
