This week marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, following the significant date of 27 May — a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Yesterday, we were honoured to welcome our special guest Djarrin from Cultural Infusion to our centre. Children were immersed in a rich cultural experience through music, storytelling, movement and hands-on learning.
Djarrin introduced the children to the Yidaki (Didgeridoo), creating a variety of sounds inspired by Australian animals, which the children eagerly identified with excitement and curiosity. The session was filled with interactive games, traditional dance moves and meaningful conversations about Aboriginal culture and traditions.
Children explored different types of boomerangs and learned about their traditional uses. Djarrin also shared a very special Coolamon, traditionally used to carry and settle babies. He explained how he used it to put his daughter to sleep, wrapping her in kangaroo skin for warmth and comfort. The Coolamon held deep cultural significance, as it was beautifully painted by his mother, an Indigenous Elder, featuring symbols representing iguanas, rivers and snake tracks.
Experiences like these help children develop respect, understanding and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives from an early age.
We thank Djarrin for sharing his knowledge, culture and stories with our children and educators.

Yesterday, we came together to acknowledge National Sorry Day — a day of reflection, respect, and remembrance for the Stolen Generations.
At our centre, the children and educators explored the significance of the purple hibiscus flower, a symbol representing the Stolen Generations and acknowledging the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities, and culture.
Through meaningful conversations, creative experiences, and quiet moments of reflection, we continue our commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and reconciliation within our learning community.
We honour the strength, resilience, and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and recognise the importance of educating future generations with empathy and respect.

Our kinder children enjoyed a wonderful walk today as part of National Road Safety Week.
They practised recognising road signs, followed teacher instructions, and explored the world around them with so much curiosity.
Once we crossed the road, the children discovered a beautiful gum tree. They picked leaves to smell, collected gum nuts, examined dry bark, and even spotted a few tiny insects. This led to a great discussion about different habitats and the creatures that live in them.
A simple walk turned into a rich learning adventure.

Food Allergy Week 2026 at our centre 💙
This week, we are proudly highlighting the important steps we take every day to keep children safe and supported. Information about allergies and anaphylaxis is displayed at the entrance, in all rooms, and in the kitchen so everyone remains informed and aware.
Our team is fully trained and qualified, with up-to-date mandatory training in allergy awareness and anaphylaxis response. We also follow strict policies around food brought from home, and use colour-coded plates and food bowls to support safe meal practices throughout the centre.
Creating a safe environment for every child is one of our highest priorities, and we thank our families for supporting us in this important work.

Our centre was filled with smiles, laughter and special moments as families joined us for our Mother’s Day celebration. Each room planned meaningful activities for children and their loved ones to enjoy together, creating beautiful memories and heartfelt keepsakes.
Families also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea and captured precious moments at our photo booth.
Thank you to all the families who joined us and for the lovely feedback and appreciation for our efforts. It was truly a special afternoon celebrating the important people in our children’s lives ❤️

Ever wondered how our educators plan meaningful learning experiences for our 2–3 year olds?
At our centre, programming and planning is guided by children’s interests, developmental milestones, observations, family input, and spontaneous moments of learning throughout the day.
Our educators carefully observe how children play, interact, communicate, and explore their environment. These observations help us create engaging experiences that support:
🧩 Language and communication
🎨 Creativity and self-expression
🤝 Social and emotional development
🏃 Physical skills and confidence
🔍 Curiosity and problem-solving
For our toddlers, learning happens best through play, relationships, routines, and hands-on exploration. Whether it’s sensory play, music and movement, painting, outdoor adventures, or group experiences, every activity is planned with purpose and flexibility to meet each child’s individual needs.
We also value family voice and encourage families to share their child’s interests, culture, routines, and learning goals with us. Together, we create a warm and enriching environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn every day.

🐍🦎 Reptile Incursion at Our Centre! 🦎🐍
What an exciting and hands-on learning experience our children had during today’s Reptile Incursion!
The children had the wonderful opportunity to see, touch, and learn about a variety of fascinating reptiles. They explored different species, discovered interesting facts about where reptiles live, what they eat, how they move, and the important role they play in our environment.
It was amazing to see the children’s curiosity and confidence grow as they safely interacted with the reptiles, asked thoughtful questions, and engaged in meaningful discussions with the presenter. Experiences like these support children’s learning through exploration, discovery, and building respect for the natural world.
A big thank you to our reptile educators for bringing this incredible experience to our centre!

🍽️✨ A Delicious Day at Our Centre! ✨🍽️
Today’s lunch menu featured a much-loved favourite — chicken biriyani! The amazing aroma filled the centre, and it didn’t go unnoticed… Parents, children, visitors, allied health professionals, and even the Goodstart maintenance team couldn’t stop commenting on how incredible it smelled — it definitely made everyone feel hungry! 😋
Most importantly, our children absolutely enjoyed their meal, with many coming back for second (and even third!) servings, which says it all!
A big heartfelt thank you to our wonderful chef, Gunjan, for preparing such a delicious and nourishing meal for everyone 💛

🌟 Supporting Healthy Sitting Habits in Children 🌟
Have you ever noticed your child sitting in a “W” position on the floor? While it’s quite common, especially in younger children, it’s helpful for us to gently guide them toward healthier sitting habits that support their development.
👉 What is W-sitting?
It’s when children sit with their knees bent inward and feet out to the sides, forming a “W” shape.
👉 Why do children do it?
It can feel stable and requires less core strength—but over time, frequent W-sitting may impact balance, coordination, and muscle development.
💡 What can we do together?
-Encourage alternative sitting positions like "cross-legged (criss-cross), side sitting, or long sitting"
-Support activities that build "core strength" such as climbing, obstacle play, and yoga
-Use gentle cues like “Let’s fix your legs” instead of correcting harshly
-Model positive sitting habits—children learn by watching us!
✨ Remember: W-sitting isn’t “bad,” but encouraging a variety of positions helps build strong, confident movers.
If you have any concerns about your child’s posture or movement, feel free to reach out to your GP.
