🔥 FIRE PERMITS – APPLY & NOTIFY ONLINE 🔥

With the Bush Fire Danger Period commencing 1 October, now is a great time to make sure you know the requirements around lighting fires.

🔥 Need to light a fire?
Fire Permits are required from 1 October to 31 March each year. You can apply online or simply scan the APPLY QR code in the image.

📱 Already have an approved permit?
Don’t forget to NOTIFY before lighting your fire. Notification is required for all fires, all year round – simply scan the NOTIFY QR code.

It only takes a few minutes and helps ensure our firefighters and communities know when planned burns are taking place.

✅ Apply. Notify. Burn responsibly.

⚠️Upcoming Fire Permit Suspension⚠️

🔴Upcoming Fire Permit Suspension🔴

The RFS is suspending fire permits in the Wentworth Shire Council and Balranald Shire Council Local Government Areas from 11:59pm Friday 12th of December until 11:59pm Sunday 11th of January. If you currently have a permit and are burning please ensure it's fully extinguished prior to the suspension taking effect.

During hot, dry and windy conditions, such as we are experiencing now, fires can start quickly and spread rapidly. Given the time of year, we want our members to enjoy this time with their family and friends, not to be out responding to fires across the district. It only takes one small error, and that error can lead to a major incident within our community. The annual decision to suspend fire permits is nothing new and has been made in order to help keep the local community safe from bush and grass fires over the festive period.

*Serious penalties, including fines and/or imprisonment, can and will apply for starting a fire without a permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period.*
