๐ŸŒŸ Year 10 Students Making a Difference in Industry!

At Findon Technical College, learning extends well beyond the classroom!

Our Year 10 Health and Social Support students undertake weekly work experience placements, applying their learning in real workplaces, developing professional skills and learning alongside experienced staff.

The feedback from industry has been outstanding, highlighting their compassion, initiative, professionalism and genuine contributions. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ‘ Lily โ€“ Future Footprints

Praised for her confidence and positive engagement with children and staff.
"I learned how crucial it is to make individuals feel valued, reassured and safe. Observing the staff highlighted the power of meaningful engagement."

๐Ÿ‘ Nahla โ€“ Warradale Kindergarten

Recognised for her confidence and inclusive approach. Her experiences have strengthened her aspiration to pursue Audiology.

"Witnessing the immense impact they have on a child's confidence and development, has further encouraged me to pursue a career in Audiology."

๐Ÿ‘ Millie โ€“ Kidman Park Primary School

Commended for her maturity, initiative and positive impact. After helping a child improve his handwriting, Millie met his father.

"His father had made a few comments on how his handwriting was improving and how the student wouldn't stop talking about me at home."

๐Ÿ‘ Evie โ€“ Women's and Children's Hospital School

Praised for her compassion and initiative in supporting children's learning.

"Compassion is important when working with children because it helps them feel safe, supported and understood."

๐Ÿ’™ This is industry-connected learning in action!

Our students aren't simply observing. They're contributing, building relationships and connecting their college learning to real situations.

These experiences help students discover their strengths, explore future pathways and develop the skills and confidence to succeed in health and social support.

Thank you to our industry partners for the valuable mentoring and opportunities they provide!

FTC Students Explore Careers in Government in Canberra!

In September, Findon High School students Mabel, Hunter and Rachael travelled to Canberra to participate in the 2026 Work Exposure in Government (WEX) program, held from 13โ€“18 September.

This national program brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across Australia to explore career opportunities within the Australian Government, build leadership skills and celebrate culture.

Across the week, students enjoyed an incredible range of experiences, including:

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Parliament House โ€“ Exploring Australia's democratic processes, meeting parliamentarians and experiencing Question Time.

๐Ÿช– Australian Defence Force Academy โ€“ Learning about careers in Defence and exploring training facilities.

๐Ÿ–ค Culture and history โ€“ Visiting the Aboriginal Tent Embassy and Australian War Memorial, including learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wartime service.

๐Ÿ’ผ Career exploration โ€“ Connecting with representatives from government agencies, including the Australian Federal Police and National Indigenous Australians Agency.

๐ŸŒ Cultural connections โ€“ Visiting AIATSIS, participating in an Indigenous languages workshop and sharing cultural experiences with students from across Australia.

A particularly special moment was Mabel connecting with her Aunty, Senator Lidia Thorpe, at Parliament House โ€“ a wonderful opportunity to celebrate family connections and Aboriginal representation in Australian politics.

Beyond the visits and activities, WEX provided opportunities to develop confidence, independence, leadership and new friendships, while encouraging students to consider how they can contribute to their communities and Australia's future๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ“ From Foundation Students to Enrolled Nurses at Just 18!

Congratulations to Ash and Kyetrel, who graduated from the Diploma of Nursing with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre (ANMEC) on 15 September 2026, becoming Enrolled Nurses at just 18!

Both were members of the inaugural Year 11 Health and Social Support cohort when Findon Technical College opened in 2024. Just over two years later, they are the first FTC students to complete their post-school qualifications!

๐Ÿ’™ Ash's Journey

Ash completed her Certificate III in Individual Support before progressing into the Diploma of Nursing. Her industry placement with Helping Hand led to paid employment, and she continues to work as both a Personal Care Worker and Allied Health Therapy Assistant.

Having balanced nursing studies with employment, Ash now plans to continue studying to become a Registered Nurse.

๐Ÿ’™ Kyetrel's Journey

Kyetrel progressed from vocational training at FTC into the Diploma of Nursing. During his first Enrolled Nursing clinical placement at UnitingSA Westminster, he secured employment and continues to work there today.

He has also returned to FTC on Fridays to undertake Flinders University Enabling Studies, exploring university pathways and further qualifications.

๐ŸŒŸ A Proud Moment for FTC and FHS

Their achievements reflect what FTC was established to achieve โ€“ connecting young people with industry, creating employment opportunities and supporting pathways into further education.

Seeing our foundation students establish careers in healthcare at just 18 is an incredibly proud moment for our Health and Social Support program and the wider Findon High School community.

Congratulations, Ash and Kyetrel! We can't wait to see where your careers take you next! ๐Ÿ’™

Skills for the Hospitality Industry!

Our students have been building valuable, industry-ready skills by undertaking their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course.

Exploring STEM Futures!

Our Year 10 students recently visited the University of Adelaide to explore the exciting range of pathways and possibilities available in STEM โ€“ Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Students had the opportunity to experience university life, discover where STEM subjects can lead, and learn more about the study and career pathways available beyond school.

A fantastic opportunity to spark curiosity, broaden horizons and get our students thinking about where their interests could take them in the future! ๐ŸŒŸ
