Buildings are just buildings but it’s the stories of the people who inhabit them that make them come alive. Open as part of the , with some brilliant research/detective work from Vicki Shuttleworth have curated a rather fascinating exhibition recounting the lives of some of the women, from all walks of life, who made the Victorian mansion Labassa their home. Each room captures not only personal stories through the display of costumes, objects and scotch finger biscuits, but the waves of societal change that Melbourne has experienced over the last 150 years. And Australian actress Jane Clifton brings to life some of those stories through the audio guide.

An eclectic collection of designs styled by for / were paraded at today. Drawn from donations to the National Trust of Victoria, proceeds from the sale of these items go towards funding the National Trust’s efforts to conserve and preserve their extensive fashion and textile collection.

Alerted by , these quirky Italian mid century modern clogs with doll faces were certainly one of the more unusual items I came across today in a preview of this weekend’s vintage sale at . Money raised goes towards the conservation of the National Trust of Victoria’s costume collection. There’s something very Lucille Ball about these cuties, don’t you think?!

Was determined to get a little fashion fix at the today and lo and behold here was this rather lovely work from ’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Am not 100% sure if anyone carries his label in Australia but it sure was great seeing this in the flesh!

Love this mid century modern artwork on the front of Toorak Uniting Church, Toorak Road in Toorak! A beautiful combination of metal and tile work! Amen!

Some Melburnians seem to be back in black. Snapped from my seat outside Sweet Canteen which looks like it is one of the sole survivors. This area of the city seems to be particularly affected by the loss of trade in the city with losing several tenants and in the alley and have vacated their stores. However the charming service at was a lovely reminder that life goes on!
