Yarra Youth Services offers a variety of activities and services for young people aged 12-25 years who live, work or study in the City of Yarra.

We run programs at lots of different places across Yarra like community centres, schools and parks. Many programs are held at the youth centre on Napier Street. To find out more visit www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/youngpeople

We want to work with young people to run fun programs where you can build your skills and meet new people. Some programs are about music, some sport, some art, and some are a little bit of everything. We can also give you information and support if you need it.

A little late, but definitely worth sharing 💛

Earlier this year during Ramadan, we were proud to host our Iftar event at Yarra Youth Services, bringing together community members, young people, families, and friends to break fast together in a warm and welcoming space.

With over 80+ people coming through across the evening, it was a beautiful celebration of connection, culture, and community. A huge thank you to Marian for providing the incredible food that brought everyone together around the table 🥘🥄🥙

We’re grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the night so special. Eid Mubarak to all who celebrated 🌙✨

Day 3 at Larita Academy yesterday and the momentum just keeps building 🔥

The day kicked off strong with an engaging teamwork session led by NBL crew David Stevenson (CEO), Alex Cogan-Briata (Commercial Growth Manager) & Jordan Coles (Video Editor), followed by powerful insights from Larry Kestelman on finding your tribe - reminding our young people of the importance of community! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏾🏀⛹🏾‍♀️

A real highlight of the day was the Career Pathways session led by Anita Pahor, alongside an incredible panel of guest speakers who shared their lived experiences and diverse journeys:
💚 Senator Steph Hoggins-May – Greens Senator for Victoria
🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Stephen Lewin – CEO, Youth Insearch
👚 Christina Smith – Group General Manager, People & Culture, Brand Collective
✍🏿 Veronica Sullivan – CEO, Melbourne Writers Festival

Hearing directly from leaders across politics, youth services, corporate leadership, and the arts gave our participants a rare and inspiring insight into the many different directions their futures can take 🎨⚖️📚

The afternoon continued with Justin Kestelman sharing his journey through Hommey, followed by a deep dive into persistence and drive through “Whatever It Takes: Daniel’s Donuts” with Anita Pahor 🍩😌

Each session is building confidence, sparking ideas, and helping these young people see what’s possible for themselves.

One more day to go — and we couldn’t be prouder of the young people who have been attending 💫

Yesterday was Day 2 at Larita Academy and it was all about exploration, choice, and learning from some of the best in the game 🔥

We learnt from many experts across several fields through lectures and workshops, including..

✨ Larry Kestelman & Stephen Nairn - Shared her journey of building a hospitality business from the ground up
✨ Dr Eamon McCarthy & Larry Kestelman - leading an inspiring session on finding your light as a award winning, neurodivergent, leading Australian artist
✨ Stephen Nairn - Guiding an immersive hospitality teamwork experience from their experience as a culinary director
✨ David Thomas, Brooke Norton & Christina Smith - Bringing brands to life through strategy and creativity
✨ David Bromley & Bromley & Co - Teaching us how to merge creativity with commerce from the perspective as a renowned artist as well as a painting session
✨ Dalal Mansour - Diving into the business of beauty and entrepreneurship
✨ Larry Kestelman - Sharing his wisdom as a multi business owner and entrepreneur expert

These sessions gave participants direct access to real-world knowledge, lived experience, and honest conversations about what it takes to build something of your own 🙏🌏

We’re so proud of how all our young people are showing up — Day 3, we’re ready for you 💫

We’re incredibly proud to share that 12 amazing young people from our community are officially taking part in the Larita Academy 4-day program 🙌✨

Day one is already packed with powerful sessions focused on storytelling, teamwork, entrepreneurial drive, and self-agency - setting the tone for a transformative experience 📚🙇🏻🏀🧁✍🏽

This is such a huge achievement, and we’re beyond excited to see these young people step into new opportunities, build confidence, and grow their ideas alongside like-minded peers.

Stay tuned to see what they get up to over the next three days 💫

💬 Do you feel like you belong in Yarra?

Real talk - loneliness is something a lot of us experience but don’t always talk about. Yarra City Council wants to actually hear from young people about what connection and belonging means to you 💙 and it only takes 5-7 minutes!

🔍 The survey asks things like: Do you feel connected to the people around you? How would you describe your sense of belonging? What does community actually look like to you?

Your answers are completely anonymous and confidential — so you can be real about how you’re feeling.

⏰ Survey closes Monday 6 April
