Great news for all international students currently working part-time in tourism and hospitality!
Student visa holders employed in hospitality and tourism will have restrictions on their working hours lifted under a new measure to be included in this week's federal budget.

We had so much fun at Hanging Local Scavenger - Footscray!
Students explored the neighbourhood on foot solving puzzles, uncovering local trivia and taking photos of their teams to unlock prizes. There was a fitness challenge, loads of street art, a relaxing coffee stop and a treat from T. Cavallaro & Sons Pasticceria as well as Nhu Lan bakery to collect along the way.

Explore the oldest remaining "industrial garden" in Victoria on our second Hanging Local Scavenger event in Sunshine.
Established in 1909 by the industrialist HV McKay, the gardens were designed to provide relaxation for the workers of the Sunshine Harvester works, at the time the largest industrial manufacturing plant in Australia, employing over 3000 workers.

‘Hanging Local’ is a program for international university students to uncover the tourism hotspots of Melbourne’s west.
Developed in partnership with Western Melbourne Tourism, Get Lost Travel Group and Victoria University, and with funding through the Victorian Government’s Study Melbourne program, ‘Hanging Local’ aims to get international students out and about exploring their local neighbourhoods, making new friends and feeling more at home.
It will also assist students in broadening their knowledge of local experiences across Melbourne’s west to show off to their family and friends when they visit.
‘Hanging Local’ will take international students on subsidised group tours to places right here in their backyard which they may not usually visit such as Organ Pipes National Park, Werribee Open Range Zoo or Altona Beach. They will be a mix of immersive experiences from nature walks or cycling tours, photography workshops to evening events or food and bar hops with other local students.
