SES Geelong Unit

04/10/2026

The past months have been quiet for the Geelong SES unit, but the past weeks have certainly been active with a massive day yesterday. 28 requests for help, trees, flooding, roof damage, homes flooded.
Incredible effort from 6:30 am preparing sandbags to late night cleaning chainsaws.

Thank SES Corio Unit for additional support during the day.
SES Geelong members, amazing from the super new members helping at the unit to everyone being out in the weather all day working to help the community of Geelong.

Hey friends, love it or hate it, that 'time' of the year is fast approaching. The time is fast approaching to turn our clocks forward by an hour. Daylight saving officially kicks off at 2am on Sunday. So, before going to bed tomorrow night, remember to turn all your clocks forward by an hour.

Practice makes perfect, and perfection is what we train for, week after week, after week. We are looking for properties around Geelong with naturally fallen trees and branches that we can use for chainsaw training sessions under the supervision of SES trainers.

If you are able to help us out please drop us an email, with a contact number;
[email protected]
and we will take it from there.

⛈☔ It's possible that we may have a bit of unpleasant weather coming our way over the next few days. Now is the time to prepare your home and yourself.

A strong cold front is expected to move across Victoria this weekend, with the worst conditions forecast from Sunday into Monday, bringing widespread rain, strong winds and the potential for localised flooding.

VICSES is urging Victorians to prepare now by:

• Securing loose outdoor items.
• Clearing gutters and drains.
• Staying up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings through the VicEmergency app.
• Avoiding unnecessary travel during severe weather where possible.

Those travelling to the alpine region should remain vigilant as conditions can change. Download the VicEmergency app and set up a Watch Zone for your destination to receive the latest info.

For emergency assistance due to storms or floods, call SES on 132 500.
