Well, our team did it. Geelong City finished second last night in the Hay Bale event at the Geelong Show to Lethbridge by just 0.09 of a second. Geelong West finished third just 0.01 of a second behind us. Was a great night.

Tonight at the Royal Geelong Show, your local volunteers from around the Geelong region will be competing in the annual Hay Bale event. Geelong City has a team entered in the event and our brigade actually won the event in 2008. So if you are at the show tonight, make sure you head to the main arena about 6pm and watch your local CFA volunteers race against the clock and each other to put out the fire.

Are you Fire Ready.

You know the drill.

You know the drill.

🌟 Tonight is the night!

🕑 Clocks will move forward one hour at 2 am to kick off daylight saving time.

We know most devices automatically adjust but some clocks, like those in your kitchen appliances, wall clocks, or car, may need to be manually changed.

While you're at it, be sure to check your smoke alarm batteries. To do this, press and hold the test button until the smoke alarm beeps three times.

If your alarm doesn’t beep three times, it needs new batteries or replacement.

Family members and CFA representatives recently gathered to witness the installation of new signage at the Firefighters Memorial in the Linton State Forest.

The site honours five Geelong West Fire Brigade members - Matthew Armstrong, Stuart Davidson, Christopher Evans, Jason Thomas and Garry Vredevelt - who lost their lives when their tanker was overrun by fire during the Linton bushfires on 2 December 1998.

A place of deep reverence for the families and the CFA community, the new signage will share the story of the fire and its aftermath with all who visit - ensuring future generations understand the significance of the site, and that these five firefighters are never forgotten.

The Geelong City Fire Brigade pays tribute to Mrs Patricia “Pat” Fitzgerald, who passed away just days short of her 99th birthday. Pat’s life was defined by dedication, community spirit, and an unwavering commitment to supporting the Brigade she and her family were so closely connected to.
Pat joined the Geelong City Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary in September 1982, following her sons Tim and Gavin into the Brigade family. Her leadership emerged quickly — elected Vice President in 1983, she went on to hold almost every office over the years, most notably serving as Secretary/Treasurer, a role she carried with diligence and pride.
In 2001, Pat was awarded Life Membership of the Auxiliary, recognising her exceptional service and steadfast involvement. Across nearly 30 years, she was part of an Auxiliary that worked tirelessly to raise funds for vital brigade equipment, strengthening the Brigade’s capability and supporting its members through countless busy seasons.
When the Auxiliary formally concluded its activities in December 2011, Pat and the remaining ladies were honoured with flowers and presentation plaques — a small gesture compared to the decades of commitment they had given.
Pat’s contribution was remarkable not only for its length, but for the heart she brought to every task, meeting, and fundraiser. Her legacy lives on in the equipment purchased, the members supported, and the enduring spirit of service she embodied.
The Brigade extends its deepest condolences to Pat’s family. Her dedication will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

After having some friends over with the footy finals being on, you notice a lot of cans and bottles that need to be recycled. Did you know you can turn those cans and bottles into money to help out local charities. Geelong City Fire Brigade is listed with the Container Deposit Scheme and we would welcome your support. Next time you visit a CDS collection point, you can scan the barcode and that money can be donated to us where it can be used to purchase new equipment to help us serve the community. Our current goal is to purchase more Breathing Apparatus equipment to go onto our BA support which can and has been utilised from Torquay to Dereel supporting brigades at structure fires. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Half Cat! 🐱🎈

Our brigade had a fantastic time joining in the celebrations for Half Cat’s birthday at the Geelong vs Brisbane game at GMHBA Stadium.

Captain Koala was out and about handing out stickers, meeting plenty of smiling fans, and even taking part in the mascot race alongside Half Cat and friends!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and helped make it such a fun day. We love being part of these great community events! 🚒💙
