The Restricted Burning Period is set to commence as usual this Thursday October 1st.
Due to the deficit of winter rainfall, earlier than normal fuel and soil dryness, as well as residential burns already beginning to escape, issuing of permits will be heavily restricted to only allowing the below to be carried out.
No running fire on private property (unless it is a burn being carried out by a Brigade or the Shire)
• With a permit, up to 6 piles (1x1m) may be burnt at any one time and only between the hours of 10am and midnight.
• Bonfires may only be lit after 5pm and must be fully extinguished by midnight, providing the Permit Issuing Officer is satisfied all requirements will be fulfilled.
• No permit is required to burn one 1x1m pile after 6pm, as per the conditions written in the Shires Firebreak and Fuel Load Notice.
These conditions will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted, dependant on the rainfall amount we receive in the coming weeks. Permits can be obtained from the Shire of Mundaring website from the 1st of October.
