🚨 Multi-Agency Land Search & Rescue Operation | Washpool National Park 🚨

Over the last few days, Several NSW SES volunteers from Glen Innes, Deepwater, Guyra, Armidale, Inverell and Grafton Units were activated to assist partner emergency service agencies following the activation of an emergency Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) in Washpool National Park.

Working alongside NSW Police, VRA Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the NSW Rural Fire Service, crews responded to a remote and challenging location where a 60-year-old person had sustained injuries following a fall.

Following a thorough risk assessment, members from VRA Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance remained with the patient overnight, monitoring their condition, managing pain, and providing shelter and safety until extraction could be safely undertaken.

The following morning, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter successfully winched both the patient and attending paramedic from the rugged terrain, with the patient transported to hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the successful extraction, NSW SES Bush Search and Rescue (BSAR) qualified NSW SES members undertook the challenging hike into difficult and challenging arduous terrain to assist the remaining emergency service personnel back out safely, and returning to the command post.

This operation highlights the outstanding teamwork, dedication and professionalism demonstrated by all agencies involved. Operations in remote and rugged environments require cooperation, resilience and specialised skills, and every person involved played a vital role in achieving a successful outcome.

👏 A huge thank you to all emergency services personnel who contributed to this incident and helped ensure a positive result.

Over the past few weeks, members from the Glen Innes, Deepwater and Tenterfield SES Units have proudly supported the NSW Rural Fire Service, and other agencies during the S44 fires across the Inverell and Tenterfield areas.

Our members have assisted in a variety of roles including, providing vital logistical support, operational communications support, and assistance with incident planning. Members have also helped coordinate and transport personnel, ensuring crews could get where they were needed and continue supporting firefighting operations on the ground.

While not all support is seen on the fireground, these behind-the-scenes efforts are essential to maintaining effective emergency response operations. The dedication, flexibility and teamwork demonstrated by our members have played an important part in supporting the RFS and the communities affected by these fires.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who has contributed their time and skills throughout this incident. A sincere thank you to our members, their families, employers, and all emergency service personnel who have worked together to support these operations.

Your commitment to helping others and supporting our partner agencies when needed is a true reflection of community spirit and service. Well done to all involved. 🚒👏

🚨 Glen Innes and Deepwater SES at Centacare’s 25th Birthday Markets 🎉

Yesterday, members of the Glen Innes SES Unit and Deepwater SES Unit were proud to attend the Centacare 25th Birthday Markets, celebrating 25 years of supporting and strengthening our local community.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet community members, showcase the work of the NSW SES, and talk about how we help during storms, flood Rescues, and other emergency situations. We enjoyed connecting with families, answering questions, and sharing important preparedness and safety information.

A big congratulations to Centacare on this incredible milestone. Thank you for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful community event and for everything you do to support people across our region.

We look forward to continuing to work together to build a safer, stronger, and more resilient community.

🧡💙 Growing Our Leaders, Supporting Our Community 💙🧡

Last weekend, two members of the Glen Innes SES Unit successfully completed the Leadership Fundamentals Course in Narrabri. This gives them the Qualification of: PUAOPE015 - Conduct briefings and debriefings 👏

Investing in our volunteers and developing strong leadership skills helps us continue to provide a safe, professional and effective emergency response to the Glen Innes community and the surrounding areas.

Our volunteers give their time to support the community when it matters most — from Storm and Flood response to assisting people during Emergencies and helping our Community prepare for severe weather events.

We’re incredibly proud of our members for taking the opportunity to build their skills and knowledge, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow as leaders within our unit and the service.

Congratulations to both members on this fantastic achievement! 👏

🧡 Your community. Your SES. Your volunteers. 💙

⚠️⚠️ Thunderstorm Forecast ⚠️⚠️

The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that thunderstorms are again possible across parts of the Northern Tablelands this afternoon and evening, and likely in the upper North-East corner of our area.

As always, we are advising residents where possible to move vehicles from under trees and into cover and secure any loose items around your house and yard.

Given what we have seen across the state in the last couple of days, these thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, large hail and localised heavy rainfall, which is possible with severe thunderstorms (potential supercells).

Our NSW SES teams have been out and about the last few days assisting the multiple impacted areas and are here to support if we see these storms develop again later today. If you do need assistance from the NSW SES give us a call on 132 500 or if your situation is an emergency always call 000.

Please keep in mind that there have been over 2200 calls to the SES for assistance since 10am yesterday, and our members have been working around the clock to assist the community.

The SES is here to help during emergencies like severe storm damage or risks to life and property. For minor tree jobs in your yard, please contact a local tree service instead, so we can stay available for those in urgent need.

Thanks everyone, please stay safe.
