It’s International Firefighters’ Day!

It’s a day to say thank you to all our amazing volunteer firefighters in the Brigade and throughout Queensland, as well as to our friends in Queensland Fire and Rescue!

No matter where you are in our state, there’s someone willing to put on the uniform to come and help when you need them.

So if you know a firey, give them a hug, shout them a coffee (or something stronger), and say thank you!

There are numerous veterans involved in the Rural Fire Service, and our team was at the Burleigh Heads ANZAC Day to honour them and all other Australian service personnel who have served, and who continue to serve.

Thank you to Burleigh Heads RSL and your volunteers for hosting this important event for our community.

Lest we forget.

But first — we need to thank some local legends who are stepping down as Volunteer Fire Wardens:

🔥Rob Stewart – 9 years
🔥Paul Trewartha – 33 years

That’s literally a lifetime of quietly looking after the Valley.

It’s not a role that gets much attention, but it carries a lot of responsibility — helping neighbours burn safely, keeping things under control, and guiding people through the right process.

We’ve been lucky to have that level of experience and care for so long from some amazingly dedicated locals.

What a massive day! Thank you to everyone who visited our team at the first Valley Country Fair! Let’s hope this becomes an annual affair for our community!

Finishing off a busy Australia Day assisting our friends at Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Fire & Rescue with a patient extraction in the Valley.
