ROV Inspection — Pindari Dam Bubble Plume Pipeline, NSW
AUS-ROV has completed an ROV General Visual Inspection (GVI) of the newly installed bubble plume destratification pipeline at Pindari Dam on the Severn River in northern NSW.
This pipeline is a key piece of infrastructure for WaterNSW's $26.2 million cold water pollution project, funded by the Australian Government. The system works by pumping compressed air to diffusers on the reservoir bed, creating rising bubble plumes that mix the water column. This breaks down thermal stratification — where the bottom of the dam stays very cold — and helps ensure warmer, more consistent water temperatures are released downstream. Cold water pollution has been identified as a major factor in the decline of native fish species like Murray Cod and Golden Perch across the Murray-Darling Basin.
Pindari Dam is one of the deepest reservoirs in NSW, making ROV inspection of the submerged pipeline infrastructure essential for verifying the as-installed condition, pipeline alignment and diffuser positioning before the system enters its two-year trial.
Great to be supporting WaterNSW on this important environmental project for the Border Rivers catchment.

Congratulations to Dr Brad Duncan and the Specialist Services Team at Heritage NSW for their successful investigation into the disappearance of the SS Wollongbar (II) which was torpedoed by a Japanese Submarine off the East Coast of Australia in 1943. AUS-ROV were privileged to have been engaged by NSW Government to assist the department in identifying the wreck site. Fantastic achievement 👏 and a credit to the NSW Government for taking an active position in prioritising Australian maritime history.

AUS-ROV performing inspection of an LNG Tanker hull technology for International Coatings AkzoNobel. The SeaBotix vLBC Crawler allows the ROV to attach itself to the ship's underside and crawl along the hull, inspecting for defects or anomalies at close range with a highly stable camera focus. AUS-ROV can check for invasive species as part of biosecurity screening for entry into Australian waters. We can also assist with UWILD inspections.
