Have you seen the news?

Civil works have started on the new and modernised Goonellabah Fire Station!

This is a big milestone for our crew and for the Goonellabah community. A modern station means a better place to train, respond and serve the people who count on us.

But a great station is only as good as the people in it and we're looking for more of them.

Applications are now open and close on the 18th of October. For more information visit: https://careers.fire.nsw.gov.au/jobs/on-call-firefighter-rn2-316-goonellabah-lismore-nsw-australia-b13c079b-6bef-4187-b398-e756c14b510d

Big developments for our Northern Rivers fire stations! Work is progressing on two new and upgraded fire stations, providing modern facilities to support our firefighters and the communities they protect.

Early works are complete on the new $8.2 million Byron Bay Fire Station, with construction set to begin soon, while civil works are now underway to redevelop Goonellabah Fire Station into a larger, more modern facility.

COULD THIS BE YOU?

Goonellabah Fire Station wants YOU! Join our On-Call Firefighter team and help keep our community safe!

When that pager buzzes, On-Call Firefighters drop what they're doing (whether at home or work) and head out to tackle fires, rescues, hazmat situations, natural disasters, medical emergencies and everything in between. Beyond emergency response, you'll also play a role in teaching locals how to stay fire-safe. It's a genuine opportunity to serve your community and be ready for whatever comes your way.

Here's what you'll need:
A valid NSW driver's licence
Australian or NZ citizenship, or Australian permanent residency
Live or work close enough to Goonellabah Fire Station to respond quickly
Daytime availability for emergency callouts

You'll also need to get through a Physical Aptitude Test and a pre-employment health check as part of the process.

So, could this be you? Get your application in before the 18th of October.

INTERAGENCY TRAINING NIGHT

Our crew recently joined forces with crews from NSW RFS - Northern Rivers Zone for a joint training drill at Lismore Fire Station.

Working alongside other emergency services is a great opportunity to practice communication, coordination and operational skills in a range of scenarios. The aim of the night was to provide an overview on the importance of Fire Ground decontamination procedures and also allowed crews to get an insight into FRNSW Hazmat Capability.

A big thank you to our RFS crews for joining us!
