Re: Important changes to collection of Junior students from Term 4 onwards
Dear Kindergarten to Year 2 Parents and Carers,
At Gosnells Primary School, we want the end of the school day to be safe, predictable and consistent for our youngest students.
From the beginning of Term 4, 2026, students in Kindergarten, Pre-primary, Year 1 and Year 2 who are being collected at the end of the school day will need to be collected directly from their classroom by their parent, carer or nominated older sibling.
Students will remain with their class until the person collecting them arrives. Once the teacher has sighted the parent, carer or nominated adult, the student will be able to leave.
Parents and carers do not need to enter the classroom. We simply ask that you come to the classroom door or the designated collection area immediately outside the classroom.
This change is being introduced to provide a clear and consistent handover process for our younger students and to further support student safety at the end of the school day.
This change applies to Kindergarten to Year 2 students only. There is no change to the dismissal arrangements for students in Years 3–6 who can also collect their siblings from classrooms.
Students attending OSHC will also be collected from their classroom.
If you are collecting a child in Kindergarten to Year 2, please come to their classroom to collect them from 2:35pm onwards. This ensures minimal disruption to the end of the teaching occurring within the class.
We appreciate that changes to established routines can take a little time to become familiar, and staff will support families as the new process begins.
Thank you for working with us to provide a safe and consistent end to the school day.
Best Wishes,
Michael Everett
