✍️ Meet the author ✍️

Richard Glover’s most recent book is How to Ruin a Child – a journey into the alarming, hilarious and ever-changing advice given to Australian parents.

He is also the author of Best Wishes, a book about making the world a better, less annoying place, one wish at a time; and Love, Clancy – a collection of the letters sent home by his dog Clancy to his parents in the bush. His bestseller The Land Before Avocado is an account of the bizarre Australia of the late 60s and early 70s.

Richard’s previous books also include Flesh Wounds, which was voted one of the top five books of the year by viewers of ABC television’s β€œThe Book Club” and won the Readers’ Choice Award as Biography of the Year in the 2016 Australian Book Industry Awards.

He has written regularly for the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Washington Post, and also presented the comedy program Thank God It’s Friday on ABC local radio for many years.

We are looking forward to having Richard visit next month, for a hilarious and insightful evening chatting all things parenting, conflicting advice, generational wisdom, and more.

Another wonderfully attended event at the library on Friday evening! We were lucky to have Penelope Janu Author in conversation with Sarah Clutton Author and discover the story behind Sarah's latest book, 'The Bookshop of Buried Pasts'. It was fascinating to hear Sarah talk about the writing process and gain insight into how she develops her characters.
We are looking forward to hearing all about the next books from both Sarah and Penelope!

We are having a wonderful time discovering hidden gems in our collection with the use of our negative scanner. This fantastic photo from 1976, is from the Goulburn College of Advanced Education collection. These ladies are rocking their swimsuits in the 'swimsuit parade', that was part of the Ironman' Log Day' festivities. Remember you can book into the Library to use our scanner to digitise your own negatives and slides, who knows what hidden gems you might discover! https://gmlib.co/digitisation
