Some wise words from CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan.

Now is a great time to start preparing for this summer’s bush fire danger period!

Have you got a bushfire survival plan?

Have you started to prepare your property for this coming fire danger period?

Have you downloaded the vic emergency app and understand how to set up watch zones for your home area and places you’re likely to spend time while you’re on holidays and the Christmas break?

The good ol leky blanket.

Anything to help stay warm during these cool nights.

Remember to check the condition of your blanket and check the electrical cord is in good condition.

Each year, we see an increase in the number of chimney fires during the colder months.

Keep your home safe this winter by:

🔦 Using a torch to check for creosote build-up or obstructions in the chimney before lighting your fireplace.

🧹 Cleaning your chimney and flue every year.

🚨 Making sure you have working smoke alarms.

🔥 Knowing your home fire escape plan.
