Banyule City Council Cr Elizabeth Nealy - Banyule Council its such a shame you didn’t consult the friends group when replacing the stairs! We have volunteered in the reserve w**ding, picking up rubbish and supporting ECB projects for nearly 10 years.

It’s a missed opportunity. Hopefully there will be extra resources to manage the area going forward.

note: we do acknowledge the stairs were in desperate need of replacement

Friends of Andrew Yandell Habitat Reserve,

See below for information regarding upcoming Eltham Copper Butterfly counts at the Andrew Yandell Reserve.

The Banyule Eltham Copper Butterfly larvae counts are coming up again this October! You’ve been included in this post as you’ve been one of our amazing volunteers over the last couple of years.

We will be continuing our conservation efforts this year by meeting at Andrew Yandell Reserve every Tuesday and Thursday night of October. We will begin surveying at around 7.30/8pm depending on time of sunset.

Last year we recorded our second highest tally since surveys began in 2004, with 251 larvae counted within the reserve!!

If you would like to get involved this year, please send me an email with your preferred availabilities.

Without the help of volunteers, our rangers and Friends of Andrew Yandell wouldn’t be able to conserve the ECB population and the broader Yandells Reserve as we do.

This is an excellent opportunityto get involved in protectinga nationally threaten species!
