🔥Fire Permits - Required 🔥
Today marks the official start of the bush fire season, with the Bush Fire Danger Period beginning on the Central Coast.

If you’re planning on conducting a burn, you’ll require a fire permit from your local Fire Control Centre or brigade. Fire permits help ensure fire is used safely and reduces the danger to you, your property and the community.

Residents and land holders must know the rules when it comes to the use of fire. Along with having the required fire permits, you need to notify your local fire authority and neighbours of your intent to burn at least 24 hours in advance.

For more information on the Bush Fire Danger Period and requirements around safe burning, visit our website: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP

Call 1300 060 807 for the Central Coast District office.

🔥 GET READY WEEKEND – ARE YOU BUSH FIRE READY?

This Sunday 20th September, 10 am to 2 pm, is NSW RFS Get Ready Weekend. Come on down to Gwandalan Rural Fire Station for a sausage sandwich and have a chat with the local volunteers.

With bushland surrounding so many of our homes and communities, now is the time to prepare – not when smoke is already in the air.

Get Ready Weekend is a chance to meet your local RFS volunteers, learn about the bush fire risk in your area and get practical advice on preparing your home and family.

A few simple jobs now can make a difference:

🔥 Trim overhanging trees and shrubs
🔥 Mow grass and remove clippings
🔥 Clear leaves and debris from gutters
🔥 Remove combustible material from around your home
🔥 Make sure hoses can reach around your property
🔥 Prepare or review your Bush Fire Survival Plan

Most importantly, know what you will do if fire threatens. When will you leave? Where will you go? And what is your plan for pets or livestock?
