Working for you and your community since 1958. It all begins with a sense of community, the HCC supports the local area of Boroondara.

We are local residents and business people just like you who want to make a difference and help our neighbours who are in need. Our Committee of dedicated volunteers bring their extensive skills and local knowledge to the task of fundraising and also helping to identify cases where assistance is required most. We also enjoy the support of local businesses, schools and other organisations and work

alongside them with the common aim of helping our local community. Hawthorn Community Chest is a local independent registered charity with tax deductible status. We do not receive funds from government or council. We rely on your support and generosity and, with your help we can continue to help others in the future. Be part of your local community and help us to help others now. Make a tax-deductible donation by completing the donation form and returning it to Hawthorn Community Chest or via online donations (click on ‘Donate’) . Your donations will go directly to those who are most in need in your community. Think about making a bequest to further enhance the work of Hawthorn Community Chest. Tell others about Hawthorn Community Chest and encourage them to participate and help their community. With your help we have been able to provide items such as:

* a special desk for a child with cerebral palsy attending a local school
* respite services for a family with a severely disabled child
* reading machines for the blind
* rehabilitation programmes for those affected by stroke
* wheelchairs for the disabled
* funding for autism programmes to assist local children
* equipment for a local kindergarten
* specialised computer equipment and iPads for the disabled

Donations from local businesses and residents have made it possible for Hawthorn Community Chest to provide grants for these, and many other, neighbours in need. We also thank the support of many corporate and local companies who donate their time, money and resources to assist Hawthorn Community Chest. Boroondara Community Outreach are one of the fantastic care providers that HCC support. Wishing Mrs Li a very happy birthday!

Today we celebrated Mrs Li’s 100th Birthday, she’s our oldest community member. Despite the language barrier we’ve learnt how to communicate through hand signals, drawings and Google translator which has resulted in many laughs.

She’s one example of the diversity both in age and culture of the people who come for support. Today we had people from Iran, China, Chile, France, Lebanon and Ukraine to name a few.

HCC are also looking for sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes to help fill the 2022 BCO Christmas hampers.

Hawthorn Community Chest (HCC) dropped off a big donation for the hampers of underwear, bras and some great clothing for our teenagers.

These are quality items that people cannot afford to buy.

Hawthorn Community Chest (HCC) is a registered charity based in Hawthorn. We have been assisting Boroondara residents in need since 1958.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, community minded person with sales and marketing experience to grow our Business Supporter Program.

The role is part time, initially one day per week but can grow with the program.

Hawthorn Community Chest (HCC) has been assisting Boorondara residents in necessitous circumstances since 1958. HCC raises revenue from local Boorondara businesses through our Business Supporter Program. We are looking for a manager to grow the Business Supporter Program and to build and manage our existing supporters. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping their local community, have a background in marketing and sales and enjoy building relationships with our Business Supporters.
