50 Years of Deadly

Fifty Years of Deadly marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement. the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.

A huge thank you to Hay Public School for having us and for being part of such a special celebration. We look forward to many more opportunities to come together, share culture, and create lasting memories.

The theme for the 2026 National NAIDOC Week is "50 Years of Deadly".

Fifty Years of Deadly marks a milestone. A tribute to the people who built this movement, the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.
NAIDOC has always been more than a week β€” it’s a platform, a protest, a celebration, and a statement of survival.

* Celebrates Excellence: In First Nations culture, "deadly" does not mean dangerous, but rather means excellent, brilliant, and something to be proud of.

* Honors the Movement: It celebrates the Elders, artists, activists, and organizers who have built and sustained the movement over the last five decades.

* Looks to the Future: It is a moment to recognize five decades of survival, pride, and resistance while building momentum for the next 50 years.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about, participate in, and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and achievements.

The Crown Land Management Amendment (Statutory Review) Bill 2026 is another example of Aboriginal people being excluded from government decisions that directly impact our rights, interests, and futures.

This cannot continue.

If passed, this Bill will further erode Land Rights despite no meaningful consultation with Aboriginal people, Communities, or representative organisations before its introduction.

NSWALC is calling on the Government to listen to Aboriginal voices and ensure Aboriginal people are involved in decisions that directly affect our lives, our Communities, and our future generations.

Have Your Say. Stand Up for Land Rights. Sign the petition today.

Thank you to the Riverine Grazier for reporting on last week's protest on Wednesday, 6 May.

Last week, NSWALC, the NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Network, community members and allies came together to oppose the Crown Land Management Amendment Bill, marching from Hyde Park to Parliament House.

We appreciate the local and metropolitan media outlets helping to amplify the voices, goals and aspirations of Aboriginal communities across NSW, and keeping the public informed on issues that directly impact our communities.

To show your support, sign our petition opposing the Bill today. Link below.
