Be ready for the Food Waste mandates, applicable for food businesses in NSW.
The NSW EPA have introduced new laws for businesses and institutions which sell and handle food to separate their food waste from general waste streams. The mandates will come into effect in stages, requiring larger businesses or institutions to act first. More information on the mandates is available here Business food waste | EPA.
The Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation – RAMJO represent the 12 local council areas of Albury, Balranald, Berrigan, Edward River, Federation, Griffith, Hay, Leeton, Murray River, Murrumbidgee, Narrandera and Wentworth and are pleased to be able to provide workshops and additional assistance and supports for businesses and institutions in the sectors of aged care, childcare and hospitality. The workshops and additional support session are at no cost to your business and is funded through the NSW EPA Business Food Waste partnership program.
Workshops
The aim of the workshop will be to make food businesses awareness of the mandates set by the state government and practical ways businesses can address these to comply. The workshop will include Regulatory Awareness, Food Waste Reduction Knowledge and Source Separation Implementation.
Attend the online workshop on Wednesday 21 October 10.30am – 12pm
Workshops are free and can be booked here Food Waste - RAMJO - Riverina & Murray Joint Organisation. In-person workshop can be conducted with your organisation, please contact [email protected] to enquire.
Additional support session
In addition to the workshop, facilitators can work 1:1 with your facility staff or other relevant contacts to help look at the set up and logistics food and waste separation. This can be determined post workshop, depending on where the facility is with set up and current need. Along with this additional session, we can also undertake a Bin Trim assessment to further assist with source separation. Through the process of a Bin Trim assessment, the facility may be eligible for equipment rebates to assist with separation.
