A big congratulations to all involved in the Musical yesterday- thank you very much to Mrs McKeand, Mrs Gould, Mrs Harrington, Miss Ashe and all other staff who assisted on the day in a variety of roles. The dances, costumes, script and everything was fantastic. 2 terrific performances. Well done! Thank you also to Urangan State High School for lending us their venue for the day.

Our annual October Book Fair is set up and ready to go. There is an amazing range of books available for purchase. Keep an eye out for your child’s wish list or come and have look for yourself.
Opening hours are:
Monday – Thursday: Before School 8.15-8.45, Big Lunch Play time 1.00-1.30 and After School until 3.30.
Friday – Open during Grandparent’s Day celebrations until morning tea time.

This week, grade 6 classes participated in a live workshop focussed on transitioning from primary school to high school.

The session is designed to support young people to:

• Understand how transition and change can impact mental health
• Manage stress that can result from change in their lives
• Build resilience and healthy coping skills
• Strengthen sense of connection and belonging
• Learn about help seeking and support pathways.

This week in Junior Science students did the following;

Prep – Explored the properties which help objects roll and bounce. They then worked as a group to construct a marble run course.

Year 1 and 2 – Discovered the forces involved to make an object spin and then conducted an experiment to test how the length of helicopter blades affects the fall time.

Next week we are hosting our annual October book fair in the library. This year’s collection is even bigger than last year! Classes will be visiting throughout the week so keep an eye out for your child’s Wish List.

🦅🌏 One Very Well-Travelled Bird!
We all know that birds migrate and can travel incredible distances… but one of our Junior School Travel Buddies seems to have taken this to a whole new level! ✈️🌎

Our little feathered friend has been making its way around the globe, travelling with Sandy Strait families and popping up in some amazing places across Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and the Pacific!

Just like migrating birds, our Travel Buddy has certainly clocked up some serious kilometres! 🦅🧳

We love seeing where our Sandy Strait community ventures. Where will our Travel Buddy migrate to next?

During the most recent school holidays, Sandy Stowaway (well, one of them!) went on a cruise with Riley (year 1) and Savannah (Prep). The students loved having Sandy along for the time.
