HBNC HBNC was founded in 1989 as a community-based initiative to provide help, friendship, and support to the most disenfranchised people in the community.

Our mission is to build a strong, cohesive, and healthy community by developing and providing programs, activities and services that respond to the needs of the most disadvantaged and isolated people. The emphasis of all of our activities is on people and the relief of issues and concerns that impede them from living a successful and happy life. We develop and deliver programs and services in response to community needs. Presently, HBNC manages 30 funded programs that encompass aspects of aged care, family services, diversity, and social isolation.

Give a little, share a lot this Christmas.

We all know how quickly little ones grow. One day it fits, and the next it doesn’t! Instead of leaving those outgrown clothes tucked away in a cupboard, why not give them a second chance at life this Christmas?

Community Cupboards Charity is popping up at HBNC on Wednesday 9 December, from 9am–11am, helping connect pre-loved clothing with local families who can put it to good use.

It’s a simple way we can support one another, reduce waste and make things a little easier for families as we head into what can be an expensive time of year.

Have good-quality children’s clothing you’d like to pass on?

Neurodivergent burnout is more than feeling tired, it is the cumulative impact of masking, chronic stress, sensory overload, and the pressure to meet unrealistic expectations. This workshop explores how burnout develops, how to recognise the warning signs, and why recovery looks different for neurodivergent people. Participants will gain practical, neuro-affirming strategies to reduce overwhelm, establish sustainable supports, and prioritise wellbeing in everyday life.

Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, 22 Charles Street Pialba

We are so incredibly grateful to the Hervey Bay RSL for their continued support of our Comfort Kitchen program through their Community Grants funding. The Hervey Bay RSL has committed additional funding to ensure that we can continue to provide this service to our community members.

More than just a hot meal, Comfort Kitchen provides a safe, welcoming space and a vital anchor of connection for those in our community experiencing social isolation.

Between January and September alone, our dedicated team has served 2,690 meals to local community members—with numbers continuing to rise as cost-of-living pressures impact families and individuals.

None of this would be possible without our amazing Comfort Kitchen volunteers. To every single one of you: thank you for bringing warmth, kindness, and genuine human connection to our tables each week.

If you live on the Fraser Coast and haven't heard of Red Bike Adventures Inc., they are one of the incredible local organisations advocating for counselling, education, and support programs for our residents. They also raise vital funds for services in our community that support mental health.

We at HBNC are fortunate enough to be one of the organisations they support.

To Red Bike Adventures Inc.—we are so incredibly grateful for your annual support, which enables us to provide essential counselling services to our community members.

We highly encourage everyone to follow and support them!

One of the things RED BIKE ADVENTURES INC does every year, on the 10th of the 10th, is to donate $10,000 from the funds we raise throughout the year to the Hervey Bay Community Centre to fund Counselling sessions for those who need it but can't afford to speak with a professional or aren't able to wait the standard wait times to see someone.
That $10,000 from the 10th of the 10th last year funded over 65 counselling sessions for people who desperately needed it - for FREE!
With this next $10K we hope to help even more people! THIS IS WHAT IT'S ABOUT!
