Emergency services see firsthand how important blood donations are for people facing medical emergencies.

If you're able to donate, now is the time. Help ensure blood is available when Tasmanians need it most by booking an appointment with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood today.

❤️ Roll up your sleeve and help save lives.

A prolonged and record cold and flu season has contributed to critically low supplies of the most common blood types.

We urgently need everyone who is eligible and well to book a donation as soon as possible https://app.lifeblood.com.au/XW3k/zghwg8ge

Share this post to help us find the 16,000+ donors we need this week.

Congratulations to our North West Region volunteers and staff who proudly represented Tasmania at the National Disaster Rescue Challenge in Far North Queensland on 12-13 September.

The team demonstrated outstanding skill, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving across the weekend as they participated in eight demanding rescue challenges.

They even came away with the win in the timed technical rescue event, beating other highly experienced competitors by more than seven minutes.

The team was also awarded the prestigious Hori Howard Spirit of Challenge Award, recognising their commitment to learning, improvement, teamwork and camaraderie.

The event was a great opportunity to network with SES volunteers and staff from other states and territories, sharing insights into roles, activities, and training in different areas across Australia.

An incredible effort by all involved and a great example of Tasmania's SES volunteers at their best 👏🚨

💨 Damaging winds forecast - secure it before the wind finds it

Damaging wind gusts are forecast to affect parts of Tasmania from Sunday, with conditions potentially continuing into Monday in some areas.

Now is the time to prepare your property:
✅ Secure outdoor furniture, trampolines and play equipment
✅ Bring loose items undercover or tie them down
✅ Park vehicles away from trees where possible
✅ Charge phones and essential devices

Strong winds can turn everyday items into dangerous projectiles. A few minutes spent preparing today could help prevent damage tomorrow.

While you're at it, check in with family, friends and neighbours to make sure they're aware of the forecast.

🧡A team of SES personnel based in the state’s north-west is representing Tasmania in the National Disaster Rescue Challenge in the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland, this weekend.

🙌The challenge brings SES teams from across Australia together to test their rescue skills, teamwork and leadership through simulated high-pressure emergency scenarios.

🚨Over two days of competition, teams will face a range of disaster-response challenges, including vertical rescue, confined-space operations, mass-casualty management and structural-collapse simulations.

🦾Tasmania is represented by a strong and capable team who have committed a great deal of time to preparation and training, honing their skills and building their confidence before departing this morning.

🤝This is also a valuable opportunity for the team to learn from other SES organisations, see how they approach different challenges and bring home new experiences and perspectives that can benefit our volunteers and broader capability.

Go team!! 👏
