πŸŽ™οΈ Meet Cr Eva Bounghi | Hope Vale Shire Council

For Cr Eva Bounghi, one of the things she loves most about Hope Vale is its remoteness. Being just 30 minutes from the water and the opportunity to go fishing is something she truly values, but above all, it’s the people that make Hope Vale home. 🌿

A key reason Eva chose to become a Councillor was her concern for disengaged young people and the importance of ensuring they feel supported by their community. She believes better education, including bringing back some of the traditional ways of learning that have always been part of community life, can create stronger pathways and opportunities for young people.

🎧 Take a listen and hear more from Eva about Hope Vale, youth, education and what matters to her community.

Meet our HVASC Capital Works Manager, Kieran Eustice.

Originally from South Africa, I moved to Australia in 2023 with my family and initially settled in Brisbane before eventually making the move north to Hope Vale.

I have an architectural background, with a strong interest in construction, community development and projects that have a direct and positive impact on the people who use them. Over time, that interest has developed into a real passion for rural and community-focused work, where projects are often about much more than just buildings and infrastructure.

I joined Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council late last year as Senior Construction Manager after moving to be with family in Cooktown, and have since moved into a broader role managing Council’s Capital Building Delivery and a range of associated projects across the community.

My young family is very much part of this journey with me, and we have enjoyed experiencing a very different way of life and becoming part of the community.

One of the things I value most about working in Hope Vale is the opportunity to keep learning. Every day brings something new, and I am grateful for the knowledge and perspective shared by community members as well as staff that I have the pleasure of engaging with every day. I believe good outcomes come from listening first, understanding local priorities and working with community, rather than arriving with an outside approach in isolation.

I am enjoying the role, the challenges that come with it, and the opportunity to contribute to projects that will hopefully provide lasting benefits for the Hope Vale community.
