Centrelink have system called "Deeming" whereas they ignore the actual rate of return on financial assets like bank balances, superannuation, shares etc. and apply the deeming provisions which is then included in income test for some payments. These deeming rates are increasing so for couples The first $110,600 of your combined financial assets the deemed rate will increase to 1.75% and everything over $110,600 is deemed to earn 3.75%. For singles the first $66,800 of your financial assets the deemed rate of 1.75% applied and everything over that is deemed to earn 3.75% interest. This will also coincide with 20th September revaluation of many assets like shares and with CPI rise in pension payments so some can expect their pension payment to fluctuate somewhat.

Victorians can claim a 20% refund on eligible light vehicle registration fees through the ⁠Service Victoria portal before applications close on 31 July 2026. Motorists can receive up to $186 back per vehicle for a maximum of two personal light vehicles registered in their name.Key Rebate DetailsClosing Date: Friday, 31 July 2026 (midnight)Rebate Amount: 20% of registration fees paid for the 2025–2026 financial year (up to $186 per car)Limit: Up to 2 eligible light vehicles (under 4.5 tonnes) per individual.

Family Tax Benefit recipients can be granted a Health Care Concession Card if their estimated income is below a threshold amount. From 1st July 2026 that threshold is $69,131 so even if your estimate is only $1 over that such concession card is lost. Please be aware of your estimated income amount as the first you may know of cancellation of such card is that you get refused trying to use it

Are you 22 years old or younger, undertaking 1st year of tertiary studies at Cert IV level or above, studying equivalent of full time and moved away from parental home to undertake such studies from regional/remote area? You may be eligible for $5000 (outer regional/remote) or $3000 Inner Regional but will need to act quickly

Please note effective from Monday 25th May 2026 we will be closed for anytime from 4 weeks to a maximum of 6 weeks. Regular "reporting" clients will still be free to email payslips in but nothing else. We will repost on reopening and hope its sooner rather than later.

From 20 March 2026, deeming rates will increase to 1.25% and 3.25%.

Deeming is the set of rules used to determine the income earned from financial assets. Centrelink include any deemed income under the income test.

When the deeming rates increase, you don’t need to do anything. The new rates will be applied automatically.

Be aware though that also on 20th March shares are revalued to reflect current values on ASX given recent strength in shares not only will asset value increase but the deemed income on that higher value as well
