The Grass Flat bushfire study is researching effective emergency information.

If you're in the Grass Flat, Natimuk or Quantong areas, researchers want to hear from you.

Your feedback on the information available before, during and after the January 2026 bushfire is important.

Researchers will be in the area between 3– 6 September.

With the current weather situation we have had some questions about sandbags from people planning for the rain expected today and tomorrow.

If you feel you need sandbags, we encourage you to source these from your local hardware store - at this stage there are no plans for our unit to become a sandbag distribution point.

At an absolute pinch, reusable shopping bags and dirt from the garden can be helpful.

If you do feel the need for sandbagging, this guide might be helpful. Remember, you don't need to build a fortress, just protect low lying entry points. Also, don't overfill the bags.

You can make other preparations such as cleaning gutters, moving or tying down outdoor furniture and trampolines and maybe emptying some water out of the pool.

Take care on the roads - avoid driving in heavy rain if possible - and never try to drive in flood water.

132 500 if you need us, 000 if the situation is life threatening.
