🛑 Fire permits in the Inverell and Tenterfield LGAs have been suspended‼
With fires already burning and fire danger increasing, do not light or continue a burn under a suspended permit.

Breaches will be investigated and could lead to fines or prosecution. If a fire escapes, it could threaten lives and property and bring more serious consequences. Please help keep further fire out of the landscape.🚒🚫⚠️

Watch and Act: R***e Range Rd Fire, (Inverell LGA) – Prepare Now: Elsmore Road

Firefighters are on scene of a bush fire burning in the Brodies Plains area. The fire is burning in a north easterly direction towards the Macintyre River. If you are in the area along Elsmore Road, between Mclachlans Lane and Stannifer Road you should prepare now. Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.

R***E RANGE ROAD FIRE - ADVICE

Crews are currently on scene at a bush fire in the R***e Range Road Inverell.

There are currently 9 RFS trucks on scene, supported by Fire & Rescue NSW Station 331 Inverell, along with a firefighting aircraft and helicopter assisting crews from the air.

Smoke from the fire is expected to be visible from town throughout the afternoon. There is no need for concern, crews are actively working to contain the fire.

Please avoid the area.

FIRE PERMITS SUSPENDED – THURSDAY 3rd September until MONDAY 7th September
due to the forecast High Fire Danger, all fire permits in Inverell, Tentrerfield and Glen Innes LGA's are suspended from midnight today until Midnight Monday morning.
This measure is being taken to reduce the risk of fires starting and spreading under the heightened fire conditions.
If you currently hold a fire permit, you are unable to light new fires or stoke up existing fires during the suspension period. Please ensure any planned burns or activities requiring a permit are postponed.
Failure in complying with this suspension WILL result in heavy fines.
