Meet Sergeant Tessa Hall, a local police officer who has been awarded Banyule's own Clyde James Smith Memorial!

This award celebrates outstanding service by Victoria Police members who serve the Banyule community.

Sergeant Hall was recognised for her dedication, positive influence, strong community ties and significant contribution to Banyule.

The ceremony was attended by Banyule councillors and officers, Victoria Police, friends and family to celebrate Sergeant Hall’s achievements, and acknowledge the important role police and council play in supporting a safe and connected community.

Congratulations Sergeant Hall!

We're seeking feedback on increasing the Public Open Space Contribution fee to help provide more local greenspaces.

A 2023 review found that 22% of the Banyule community don’t have a park or green space nearby.

This is challenging for Council to fix because of increased population, rising land values, limited funding, and the impacts of major projects like the North East Link.

An increase in the Public Open Space Contribution fee will help us maintain and provide more green spaces, as more people move to Banyule.

Bell Steet Mall upgrades are underway ✨

One of Banyule’s most diverse and loved shopping centres is a part of Business Victoria’s Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Project, helping to preserve the area’s character and support local businesses.

Completed works include:
🪑 improved seating
💡 better lighting and signage
🔨 repairs to the roof
🪶 and pigeon proofing, sorry pigeons!

There are more improvements to come, with remaining works set to be completed by March next year.

The project is funded by a $250,000 Business Victoria grant, with an additional $70,000 provided by Banyule City Council.

Now’s the perfect time to dust off your bike for the warmer months 🚴

But if it needs a bit more than dusting, come along to our hands on bike maintenance workshop!

Banyule’s Ready for an upgraded Watsonia Train Station.

The station was last updated almost 50 years ago. The community, roads and surrounding precinct has all changed, and it’s time for the station to as well.

The steep ramps are difficult to get up and down at the best of times. Throw in a pram, heavy shopping bags or using a mobility aid and it can become downright dangerous.

Whilst works are completed nearby for the North East Link Project, now is the perfect time to make sure Watsonia has an accessible station for locals and visitors alike.

We’re calling on candidates ahead of the state election to commit to funding an upgrade to the station and approve land use and design changes for the surrounding precinct.
